There was an ad in the Sunday age last week. Makes a regular appearance.
I’ll be curious tonight to see how 4BH goes with the southern states switching to Daylight Saving Time. During the switch over in April the station went a bit whacky for a bit, but that was when they were still having regular issues with the automation, which seem to have been fixed up over the last few months.
Update 2am AEST: Well nothing’s gone wacky yet, they haven’t split the feeds yet, 4BH is continuing to take the live 2UE/Magic1278 feeds. Maybe when I wake up later today I’ll find they’ve introduced the hour delay then
In light of this news:
I wonder if Nine Radio will experiment more with their music stations (such as 2UE, which air/ed the cricket) over Summer?
Hopefully it means there is a possibility that SEN will take the AFL rights in Sydney and Brisbane so that 2UE and 4BH can be 100% music next year.
Even on SEN Track in the Latter?
I know SEN Track is narrowcasting in the proper sense, but I can’t see it ever taking over from the full-power and very experienced teams like 4TAB or SKY (2KY & relays). They might as well use it for spill-over football or cricket… at least it might then be filling a need.
In Brissy how will you be able to listen to the BBL this summer or “normal” radio. Will it be like Hobart? How about in Perth and Adelaide too? Let the ABC bring the BBL too is my vote, at least in the cities without an incumbent.
No mention of DAB+ digital radio I noticed.
Looks like no expense was incurred for the Magic1278 logo.
I know, I really give up lol
They seem desperate for people to use the app. That’s fine but surely given 75% of new cars sold now have DAB+ they would promote that as well.
Also I just don’t like the 6GT brand. It’s just not catchy to me.
Looks like no expense was incurred for Magic1278 in general.
Have they considered buying 6IX from Capital/Grant? Would be a nice fit for 6PR to mirror the rest of their duos in cap cities. Plus a ready made brand and space they can lease!
I’m sure they’d love to but they may not be wanting to sell.
Anyone can be brought, just for the right price.
I don’t know if Nine Music Radio is something Nine really want. They just adopted it as part of the sale and went for the cheapest option a basic music station. The jewel in the crown is 3AW and 2GB. Now its just a way to have less potential competition especially in Sydney by keeping it and create a no frills music network. My bet is SEN would want to buy 6IX in front of Nine Radio. They have more hunger to expand. I would not surprised if SEN acquires 4BH at the “right price” or if 4BC does not rate perhaps offloading it to SEN.
Just imagine how much money Nine could make it ALL stations were as successful and as resourced as 2GB and 3AW.
Not as much as they’d make by not resourcing the stations to make them successful.
Probably.
How long have 9Radio had their music stations?
If I recall correctly, didn’t they say they’d look to increase announcers, etc. over the coming months?
Maybe they looked, then looked away.
How long have 9Radio had their music stations?
They’ve had 2UE, Magic 1278 & 4BH as music stations since February, which is nearly 9 months ago now.
