Nine On-Air Presentation

No refresh sadly.

Longest presentation ever for Nine.

Yeah, that doesn’t work as an on air promo.

It came across as if they only had a handful of shows and two sports (the fleeting rugby glimpse hardly counts). The flow isnt helped by inserting more current content in either.

They’re really missed the mark on this one

Yeah not exactly an inspiring promo at all. Just looks like footage from all the Nine shows stitched up together but doesn’t really promote much other than ‘Still the One’.

Shame because their previous efforts earlier this year was much better.

Sorry, you must have posted a second or two before me

I really don’t like it at all. Unless they intend to update the current affairs content to keep it relevant, this is going to age terribly within a week. And including Tara Brown saying her name is just odd - surely saying “this is 60 minutes” would be a lot much better.

I can’t even understand why this would have been shown at the upfronts. It seems like something that should have been quite impactful and yet is just underwhelming. 9’s promo team have done so much better than this in the past and for me, this just doesn’t justify the 3 minutes of wasted prime time ad revenue.

I do like the music though, certainly a lot of potential for a better promo with it.

I think there is certainly space for them to recut it to bring down the run time and make it flow better.

Queensland version

Adelaide has local inserts as well

I think the main purpose of running it tonight was mostly for promo of the programs on the network as a lead into The Block finale tonight.

Don’t expect this to run for too long. It’s certainly for just a short run. Think of it as a showcase.

Agree. Hopefully they stick with the still the one slogan and use it for a while though

I do miss the old Nine overhauls. Hopefully soon.

You can see the origin of the video at the opening to Nine’s Upfronts. That was originally approx 3 minutes as well. It ended with:

Like tvnews said, that was a hodgepodge promo. It seems like the idea sounded good in theory/on paper but the execution resulted in a network promo which doesn’t make sense. The promo’s two key lines are the perfect example of that:

  1. “We have never been prouder to stand by your side” - What does that line even mean when we’re talking about a TV network? You would be mistaken for thinking Nine has become an insurance company.
  2. “We have, we are and forever will be Still The One” - If that really was the case, why did Nine stop using for a while until today?

One thing out of this, hopefully this earmarks the return of “Still the one” as the network slogan.

I feel it’s a bit of a “stick it” to Seven about them claiming to be the #1 network in all demos.

“Welcome home” never did it for me

Great Southern Land is the music Great to see “Still the One back” who is performing this version of GSL?

The three-note jingle returned during the first “Welcome Home” package

It aired 3 times this evening. At 5:25pm, 7:00pm and at 9:02pm. 9-10 mins of ad revenue gone???

It was also in the second iteration of “Welcome Home”

Some more well-used inserts in the Melbourne version.

Which loosely lines up with welll-come-home… which I believe was the intention.

One would hope the new CEO will want to put his mark across the branding and hopefully we will see a refresh next year.
