How has Stan stacked up after a week? Taking away the 4K offering (what looking at the advertising only seems available for select events), is it any better than 9Now and was it worth the subscription?

I have only watched through Stan and its pretty similar to the expereince I had with 7Plus for Tokyo, One of the big benefits the Stan coverage has over that is that they have been archiving all the qualiyfing rounds and such which I recall Seven didn’t do for Tokyo. I can’t comment on how it compares to Nine Now though. As someone who hadn’t been paying for Stan Sport I would say it was worth the $10 or $15 extra for the coverage plus I also paid the sub fee 7 offered for Rio in 2016 as well.
They seem very selective with viewership numbers compared to what they release with Nine Now.
Yes, Keegan Palmer, he’ll try to defend his gold medal tonight in the skate park. He’s in the last heat though, scheduled for 11pm est, but there’s a couple of other Australian guys as well. Final is slated for 1:30am.
Surprised he’s not featured in today’s promo, given he was part of Nine’s pre-Olympics campaign and also did some material with the wwos crew. Perhaps Brace and Ally will preview etc after 7 tonight.
Especially given he’s a heavy favourite to win again and after Arisa Trew’s stunning victory overnight.
Seemingly some audio issues with the commentary link of the Mixed Team Relay Walk between Dave Culbert and Tamsyn Lewis-Manou.
I overheard them mention that the technical team had to fashion a working microphone out of some cables, but the link appears to be glitchy and dropping out every so often.
Just stated on air that they had a single headset mic to share between them! Explains the noticeable delay between each of them speaking.
EDIT: Sounds now like this is resolved somewhat.
Can’t wait for 8:30pm tonight, the men’s park will be epic, they themselves on-air couldn’t contain their excitement either, both for last night and tonight, hope at least 9Gem air a lot of it and good luck to the Aussies including Keegan later. The callers have been fantastic again too, echoed online. Would love to see Nine’s demographics for these action sports too, no doubt skewing very young and doing well for those target advertisers in then.
Hi Russell
It’s not the Australian open where matches lower as each player is eliminated.
There’s plenty to keep us going until Sunday.
I’m confused as to why Brenton Speed (who’s in Paris) isn’t calling the Opals instead it’s Papalia from Australia. Why are they not using the commentary team in Paris?
It feels like they are treating the men’s team coverage much better than the women’s.
Having called the rowing for Nine’s TV coverage last week, Matt Hill is now commentating athletics for Nine Radio alongside Jane Flemming at Stade de France.
I think they want a female voice (O’Hea) for the Opals instead of Gaze.
Who was the one who re-commentated Peter Bol’s 800m from Tokyo in the package that aired tonight
