Channel 9’s Karl Stefanovic has delivered his verdict on the French people while covering the Paris Games, saying they are rude, pompous and sexually weird. Read the full rant.
“The French are weirdos. The French are complete weirdos. We all know that,” Stefanovic told the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday.
3AW veteran reporter, presenter and commentator Shane McInnes was great calling the kayak 500m sprint.
He is in Paris, was he calling by himself with James Tomkins back in Sydney? Or are they both on-location, either at the Nautical Stadium or in the IBC. Or was Matt Hill in France too last week, I assumed he was back in Australia.
Disappointed with Nine’s week 2 prime time coverage thus far, outside Gerard, Tamsyn, Dave and Steve at the track and field, it’s been a rather jingoistic night to forget of umpteenth interviews and replays, some over a week old… Jeez, guys, so much live Olympic Games action
I’ve flicked to Gem and think I’ll stay there, at least Sylvia has thrown to Mitch Tomlinson and Nick Boserio at the skate park, two very young Australian girls in action
They keep going back to earlier stuff - there was an Aussie in a heat for one of the events, and Nine delayed it until about 7:30pm AEST, presumably to get the best audience possible.
Now both Nine and 9Gem have gone to the live heats of the Skateboarding. Surely 9Gem could have headed off to something else if main channel was taking over.
This has happened several times - either because the main channel is joining in for when there are Australian’s, and 9GEM is showing the whole thing, or, they are operating from different control rooms and production teams who aren’t coordinating well with each other on things like this.
Absolutely Boomers and there’s diving gold and sailing gold from about half an hour too plus the canoe sprint very soon. There’s a lot else on too such as volleyball, handball and table tennis to name a few. And still skateboarding and climbing with Aussies.
Eddie mentioned that they (commentators) finally got to call a Australian gold medal but I’m pretty sure they did that with the same skateboarding event but men’s at Tokyo 2020 with 7
I would agree with you, but if it comes down to watching a replay for the nineteenth time of an Australian, or a live and interesting event that involves a non-Australian country, the choice is clear.
