Nine Olympic Coverage (Milano Cortina 2026)

Agreed - still amazes me how she still managed to get a gig again when she only fills in on a handful of episodes of A Current Affair each year.

Was there a miscue earlier?

James: “Plenty more to come from Milano Cortina 2026” voicing over the mountainous B-roll.

Then cutting abruptly to medal ceremony, which was pre-recorded.

Endcap of tonight’s promo - AEDT version. Not sure what others are getting.

Good job from Nine having a “Congratulations Kira Kimura” strap across the top following the big air final.

Then they brought on - via AR - the gold, silver and bronze medals. That’s it, no accompanying context.

Looks like 9Gem have a nine hour program throughout today starting around 10am (not sure if edt or local timss), “replay”. Guessing a truncated full Day 1 encore, maybe minus some studio talk, colour pieces and ads?

Should be good for those wanting to catch-up on overnight who went to sleep, as the main channel “encore” with Lydia Lassila only runs a few hours and will no doubt only focus on Australians, popular events, bigger names and medals.

IIRC Paris 2024 also had a daytime replay on 9Gem, but without a host and that Olympics had two separate broadcast feeds (9 and Gem) anyway.

The replay feed is AEDT and will be available throughout the Games.

9Gem daytime:

Yep, so they have started from roughly 8:30pm edt last night, cutting the (rather ridiculously long and was criticised online) opener with Langdon, Bracey and which included Scotty James sit-down complete with that already aired pre-record on him in Vancouver as a teen and going straight to the men’s downhill final with Matt Hill.

So let’s see by 6:30pm edt tonight if they finish on the figure skating, Liz Chetkovic and Jeffreys & Alcott which just concluded 15min ago.

Nine wwos Olympic watermark also changed to “Replay”. EPG add-on also says “Replay”.

The very high reach and exposure of Nine News and Married is handy for Milano Cortina 2026, as they ensure promos for 9Gem Winter Olympics are seen and will get plenty changing the channel prior to 8:30pm local times. Especially first ad break in news, last breaks around sport & weather and every break during Married.

Although wonder if Nine would prefer majority to stay with Married or if they’d prefer a split? Either way it’s a good problem to have, after all share is share and ads are ads, ‘all roads lead to Rome’ in this case.

New billboard designs and sound appear to be running too.

Really not a fan of that big fake set where Sylvia is hosting from. Looks worse than 7 Perth!

Has someone told that user that 7 doesn’t have a paid streaming service?

Wait until they have and then they will just do what 9 is doing right now.

That user would be @greysfan, who also posted the same thing, twice, on TV Tonight.

Won’t happen until the mid-2030s and who knows that the streaming landscape would look like by then!

It’s quite strange to tune in to hear legendary horse race caller Matt Hill commentating on the skiing!
