Nine News Local

That’s just people discussing it.

@Read_It_First actually has network sources. He revealed weeks ago that Jono would stay on Brisbane’s weekend news.

Paul Taylor co-presenting alongside Samantha Heathwood tonight.
Really happy to hear this is likely to be a permanent change.

Paul Murphy on sports I asked him how he was going and he said he now does sport for all the regional Qld bulletins

Live cross during Sunshine Coast bulletin

And the story worthy of this treatment?

That is a major state political story? IMO, it sounds more like something Phil Wilmington would do a fluff/puff piece on!

Lighting looks surprisingly good.

It was completely pointless as a live news cross. Nothing new was presented, the location for the cross was only vaguely related to the story and the importance of the report was minimal.

You’re right, looks nicer! Hopefully they decide to move them into a bigger space in the future.

And get a new set please. That broom cupboard is just rubbish.

The green screen is still terrible and the audio is consistent with the cupboard that they are in.

It would be slightly more bearable if they removed the fake set windows the key and just had a plain landscape keyed in.

Or better yet (as we’ve discussed on here before) have some sort of live camera feed in each city that they can key in live.
Would certainly give the bulletin a truly “live and local” feel.

I see no reason why they can’t do this in the Darwin market right away, given they already have a live camera there

Adding on to the ideas, record the openers and cross to sports (and back) on the metro set.

Although this idea will probably only work in NSW and VIC.

you all seem to miss the point of ‘cheap tv’

they will never do live shots from each market, throws in other studios or anything other than using an existing space no matter how shit it sounds or how bad it looks.

It is designed to meet the requirement of the affiliate deal (which is to meet their quota of local content) and that is all.

Heck, they could just have one person reading a teleprompter for 2 minutes an hour on a green screen and it’d meet quota… oh wait, SCA did that.

But NTD Darwin is a Nine O&O station, albeit historically part a non-aggregated regional market. It therefore wasn’t part of the SCA/Nine news arrangement, yet has now been folded into the TNQ/SCA news operation. NTD’s viewers get a worse deal than those watching the QLD affiliate, and under the “Nine News” branding too.

Darwin should have never been rolled into the Regional product.

NT is now the only state/territory with no commercial television news produced or broadcasted within the territory itself!

Don’t forget ACT.
WIN News and Nine News are produced in NSW.
