Nine News Presenters and Reporters

Not ones rooted in misogyny.

Has nothing to do with misogyny. It was all about a presenter not wanting others appearing on their program looking the same or similar and demanding change.

But it does, because the fact that she even had to consider that is a result of this thinking that women can’t be seen together if they are wearing the same colour. Yes the meltdown was a bit funny when it first happened, but I think that moment has passed.

Also, notice the fact that male presenters can get away with wearing the same or similar coloured suits and no-one says boo, but as soon as two women do the same, people on here are quick to trot out the old “joke”.

It only became an issue because she made it an issue. If they had all appeared the way they were dressed, nobody would have noticed really. In fact if all the women wore similar business attire, like men do, they would probably not get any comments about how they dress. I guarantee if three male presenters suddenly appeared on screen in maroon jackets, they would also get comments.

The joke was made because this incident happened. The joke is not directed at women in a misogynist way. It’s just a joke about the incident.

Especially if one of them asked one of the others to change their jacket and that comment got leaked out!

I’m sure some people would have, but it wouldn’t have been blown way out of proportion and certainly not taking any real issue with it.

Except they do, and people still come on here and make jokes about it. There was zero wrong with what was being worn, and would be entirely appropriate business attire.

There were at least 5 being worn on Wednesday’s Queensland bulletin and not a single comment was made. Now I know you’ll say “But it’s different because it was Origin night”. Now I am happy to accept that, but it still highlights the fact that men can wear exactly the same thing and it go largely unnoticed, but women do it and it becomes a talking point.

Time to move on, I think.

I saw Maggie Raworth present Sydney weather tonight (and also earlier this week).

I think she’s definitely improved in that role, looked more confident and didn’t stumble over her words much. Whilst still not as good as Sophie (my favourite), definitely better than before.

She reminds me of Natalia Cooper

In what way?

Poor Natalia. :joy:
