Henderson Park at old studios in Willoughby
There could be no more fitting tribute to Brian Henderson than a park named in his honour at the place where he ruled the television airwaves for 46 years. The legendary newsreader and host of the hit music show Bandstand, passed away in 2021, having devoted his working life to Channel 9, the Willoughby studios like a second home to the one he shared with his wife Mardi.
As Mirvac transforms the former home of Channel 9 into a community of elegant residences set in park like gardens, Mardi is overjoyed that her husband of 55 years will be remembered in perpetuity at Henderson Park.
Was once a television studios turns into a magnificent apartments.
That’s extraordinary and luxurious.
Good on them for honouring a legend where it all began
And that’s the way it is!
Reid Butler has been announced as the new US Correspondent
The Melbourne newsroom has lost too many good reporters lately. At least Brett is returning.
Wasn’t he originally from Sydney? He at least worked at TCN-9 on ACA and/or Nine News Sydney from memory going back years ago.
I think Sydney is trying to copy Melbourne here because I know Livinia Nixon or Maddie Spark (nee Slattery) goes to sit down on the desk while reading the seven-day forecast on the Melbourne News (or at least what’s what they would do in the past).
Quick question - who are Nine’s current US & UK correspondents?
UK - Jessica Millward and Edward Godfrey (not including Brett McLeod as I believe he has just finished his stint)
US - Jonathan Kearsley and Lauren Tomasi
Yes they are using the same format as Melbourne by using a fullscreen graphic.
Melbourne uses the 7-day forecast on the videowall, and then shows the next-day weather breakdown as a fullscreen
From Friday:
And Alison Piotrowski
Are these new appointments to cover Brett & Carrie-Anne? I know Edward Godfrey & Jess Millward are currently European correspondents.
Jess replaced Carrie-Anne and Hannah Sinclair will replace Brett.
If Nine was to follow Seven and move to a dual presenting format in Sydney, who would they go with?
I am not sure Pete and Georgie would work together. Maybe Deb Knight.
The rest of their presenters (Davina, Kate, Sophie etc) don’t have the experience for 6pm yet.
Also, in Perth, I wonder if they would consider Natalia joining Michael at the desk once Sherri-Lee returns.
Given Natalia presents the Late News, should go do both.
Why would they do that? It’s not like dual anchors on weekends had an impact. If the Seven gets a bump in Sydney, it would be a reflection on how poor Ferguson was before.
I would think Davina does, considering she used to present QTQ weekend news.
I could see Georgie & Pete working. But I don’t see 9 Sydney shaking in their boots. The current structure is working fine.
I’d go a bit more random - I think Sylvia Jeffreys would be perfect for 6pm News in Sydney.
