I do agree and it would be good to see Jayne present given all the work she has been doing with Weekend Today and the daytime bulletin but Ben has a large following in Sydney. Not only would people recognise him from his days on the Today show but his radio show is number 1 in the afternoon in Sydney. I feel like the general viewer loves him. I am not that fond of him to be honest.

@Radiohead Exactly the right point Ben isnât part of the Sydney news team.And despite it being summer non ratings he shouldnât be fronting the main news bulletin of the day .Jayne would have been the better choice.

If anything, I probably associate Ben Fordham more with 2GB and itâs notoriously editorial broadcasting rather than the Nine Network these days. That probably isnât a good thing.

Agree. At least Jayne is a regular reporter for Nine News Sydney and did anchor the âweekendâ bulletin in October. From what I saw of tonightâs news, Ben was awful and awkward, like always, and I am sure people did make the switch to 7 News Sydney. Comments on Twitter that made me laugh:

Yep, on AFL Grand Final night when Nine News Sydney actually did win the ratings (albeit, narrowly) despite great ratings for Seven News in other markets.
Knowing that and the amount of times sheâs filled in on national bulletins over the last year or two, itâs all the more reason for Nine to consider allowing Jayne Azzopardi the opportunity to fill-in on Sydneyâs 6pm news a little more often whenever Pete, GG and Deb are unavailable!

For some inexplicable reason Nine signed Fordham to a new contract when his priority is clearly his 2GB drive show. Heâs never really had a defined role since he left the sport gig on Today and has just floated around filling in on various programs. Iâm not surprised Nine is using him at this time of year when staff are off on holidays and Fordhamâs schedule is open because he isnât currently doing his radio show.
