Has anyone seen Kerrie Yaxley lately? She usually does Political reports for Today or Nine News. Instead of have seen Lauren Gianolli, Charles Croucher and Lane Calcutt.

In Queensland:

Friday 19.02.16: Darren Curtis presented the local Morning and Afternoon News
Friday 26.02.16: Joel Dry presented the local Morning and Afternoon News. In fact he is IMO, much better than the permanent weekend anchors.
Saturday and Sunday 27.02.16-28.02.16: Sophie Walsh is still co-anchor after doing shift on Weekend Today.

Andrew Slack is leaving 9 Brisbane after 28 years. Here’s the report from 9 News tonight.

On Sydney’s 6pm news, Amber Sherlock continued her recent tradition of “Easter Show Eve” forecasts (last year it was in an animal pavilion, the showbag hall the year before…) by presenting it on location in the food pavilion at Homebush.

While I’m sure that Mel McLaughlin is a nice person, I really can’t see her working as a sports presenter on Seven’s 6pm bulletin in Sydney (at least initially)… especially with someone like the legendary Ken Sutcliffe on Nine as the main competition…
Exactly. Nine News’ only real weakness across the board seems to be their weather presenters. Two of them are former models, ones a celebrity star, three are news reporters and in QLD at least we have somewhat weather ‘junkies’. If Nine News Sydney approached either Magdalena Roze (would be perfect) or even Stevie Jacobs’ wife Rose Jacobs who are both meteorologists, would certainly make Nine News Sydney team both during the week and on the weekend extremely strong.

Who are you talking about?

I am really referring to Seven News Sydney’s appointment of David Brown as the only Sydney meteorologist. I believe Nine News Sydney needs a meteorologist too to strengthen their team. Having a Brown is Seven News Sydney’s only advantage over Nine News Sydney so why not cease that. Magdalena Roze, Amanda Duval, Rose Jacobs ( could be easy to approach as her husband works at the network) or even a meteorologist from Win/NBN would be great additions to the Nine News Sydney team. Just my opinion.

I think that Graham Creed would disagree with that. But as commercial stations are concerned you’re right.

Even though she’s not a meteorologist, it’s worth remembering that Amber Sherlock has a decent news background - I think that would be more than a good enough reason for Nine to keep her as Sydney’s weeknight weather presenter…for now at least anyway.

@nationalnews The average viewers don’t give a rat’s arse that Amber isn’t a meteorologist.

Davina Smith should be heading off on maternity leave sometime next month, she’s expecting her first child in May.
Who do you think- Tim Gilbert?
Weekend Melbourne weather presenter Rebecca Judd and Perth weather presenter Scherri-Lee Biggs are both fashion or designer models. My point was 6/8 of Nine 6pm weather presenter know nothing about the weather.

Yeah sorry about the Creed comment. I was in the middle of reading Seven’s press release where they said Sydney’s only 6pm meteorologist- I missed the 6pm bit. As for Sherlock, I am not degrading her presenting nor her news reading skills. Just, we don’t encourage non-news readers to read the news, people who know nothing about sport to present sport, so why should the weather be any different?

Really? Why then would Seven promote so hard that they have David Brown, Jane Bunn, Tony Auden etc, if no one cares. Why are they constantly addressed by the anchors by the title of meteorlogists if no one cares? I do see your point but as soon as I know they aren’t experts , I forever have that grudge over them when they are doing that role that they don’t know what they are talking about and I stop listening.

@nationalnews of course the networks care and as we all know promote the fact as often as possible in promos.
What l’m talking about is Nine News Sydney in 2016, is it affecting ratings that Amber isn’t a meteorologist?
Sydney bulletin has two of the best in the business with Peter and Ken and Amber is well-known and respected and yes she isn’t a meteorologist.
Final comment about this from me for now. Maybe not right now, but if Seven News Sydney continue to strengthen and close the gap against Nine News Sydney then TCN should definitely not rule out the option.

Well said.

For as long as Nine News Sydney is still a #1 rating bulletin, they won’t be making any major presenter changes unless they absolutely have to and even when someone does leave, they will most likely get the farewell that they deserve. Remember, it’s the same news service that recently gave their longtime floor manager (someone that the average viewer would very rarely, if ever see/hear on-screen) a brief On-Air farewell when he left after something like 42 years of service with Channel Nine Sydney!

If the ratings gap between the 6pm Sydney news services of Seven and Nine continues to get closer, I think that Nine would be more likely to consider presentation changes rather than presenter changes. At least that’s what I really hope would happen anyway.
