Nine News Local giving a few young journos an opportunity to get some “real world reporting experience” as they fill the void left by reporters who have already moved on. Jack Ryan has been reporting in central west NSW and Jack Hahn replaced James Wilson in Wollongong. One more “Jack” and they’ll have a four of a kind poker hand.
Great experience for them even if it is for just a couple of months. Not an opportunity to be passed up.
I quite enjoy seeing young people use old Australian slang words. It’s preferable to hearing annoying Americanisms constantly creeping into the language. “Sidewalk” instead of “footpath”, for example.

And unfortunately I was unable to see it as Ballarat had a blackout for nearly half an hour. And the Nine News Western Victoria page has not posted since the 22nd of April.
The main reason why I chose to watch it was so I could hear about the Lydiard Street level crossing losing it’s heritage gates. That’s a report that interests me since I have an interest in level crossings.
