Yes, it was in the affiliate agreement - SCA pay 50% of revenue, and in return for the high figure Nine will produce the News using their own resources. All SCA have to do is provide the local office space and whatever is required of playout to insert the news content over the top of the dirty feed.
The national numbers Seven News and Nine News are largely based on the relay on the metro bulletin. Any bulletin that is purely local does not count. In the case of bulletins where there is no metro relay and the main news includes national reports like NBN, ReionalTAM includes those.
Shorter version of the promo
Whatâs with the QLD police car in the promo? You think they would use only local pictures.
Yeah I know, I was just asking about it because it looked like every other image was of Canberra expect that one so it kind of looked odd.
Edit: Nevermind i was going off the 15sec promo. I watched the 30sec promo and it has some images from other places.
I wonder why they arenât promoting it being at 6pm? Trying to hide that itâs a replacement service?
Also, I certainly prefer how the Nine news logo and location tag looks on the promo end cap, compared to that cover image.
I reckon Nine should just let the baby have his bottle. Less and less people will be watching WIN as the roll out continues anyway.
I get what your saying, but WIN should really step up, they are no way affiliated with Nine anymore. Surely WIN is breaching some sort of rule, they are copying another companys image.
can you copyright blue worlds? or a red line?
Cadbury copywrited the colour purple. Anything is possible.
That was overturned in the UK case
Yeah, there are way too many similarities there between those 9 News and WIN News images for my liking!!
Iâd be making WIN change that personally if I was Nine
Nine would have to try to trademark the look first, at which point WIN would object to the registration by saying, weâve been using that look for years (and you didnât say anything) so you canât.
Donât get me wrong, it would be great if they launched a Ten inspired look and feel. I just feel that if theyâre going to make a stand against Nine and continue to copy their brand and confuse their own viewership, then they deserve to cop whatever happens to them as a result. Just another nail in the coffin. Theyâre more interested in getting back at Nine than moving the fuck on and developing their own news identity. Mappy, the flooding of AAN, the retention of the 8x LCN range⌠theyâre stuck in the past.
The problem is that viewers wanting the Nine service might become confused and watch the WIN service instead, especially since itâs only been six months since the affiliation change and some may still think WIN is just another name for Nine.
Fully distancing themselves from Nine isnât what WIN wants to do in this instance. They want to remain as similar as possible to ride on the coattails of a competing (and arguably better) service. They want viewers to accidentally view their service instead of Nineâs. Itâs a desperate strategy but one which many networks previously have utilised.
Remember when Seven debuted those supers with the globe in the right hand corner, which looked identical to Nineâs supers at the time? I do. Many veterans of this forum will remember one member here by the name of Evo going off the rails because of the globe too Unless Nine threaten legal action or WIN News know itâs a losing strategy, I can see their branding staying beyond the launch.
I donât know if Iâd call myself one of Media Spyâs veterans, but I vividly remember that particular memberâs fascination with the Seven News globe back in 2012-13. Was good for a laugh at times!
As for WIN Newsâ branding strategy, I honestly donât think Nine really care what their former affiliate is doing now since newer look sets & graphics have been/are being rolled out for Nine News. As itâs already been pointed out, probably less and less people will be watching WIN News as the rollout of new regional editions of Nine News progresses anyway.
Maybe WIN should change their theme music but if I was Nine, Iâd probably considering updating the theme music for the news anyway since itâs even older than Sydneyâs news set that has just been replaced. Laurence Schuberth (heâs still at NBN, isnât he?) giving the Nine News or âCool Hand Lukeâ signature theme the same treatment that NBN Newsâ theme music got in 2014 would probably make for a pretty decent sounding update to Nineâs current news theme, if you ask me.
What ever happened to him/her?
