Nine News Darwin

To me the bulletin is produced in 2 cities

Decisions about what goes to air are made in Brisbane and Darwin

Darwin obviously produces filed stories and editorial

Brisbane produces live elements and the actual broadcast

  1. Using the “No one knows [city] like [channel] news” that Seven’s famous for.

  2. Could they get consitant/new mic flags? Is it really that hard to have some from less than 10 years ago? Even if they are the ones before the ‘new’ ones that Melbourne/Sydney/etc. are using.

Great promo. Can’t wait to see its return.

Hopefully there’s no massive swoosh on the green screen all the time…

Yes but they are completely avoiding the subject that it’s not presented locally. A good thing I guess.

I don’t think it matters anyway as it’s a dedicated bulletin but the EP will probably be based in Brisbane. I would say Kate Limon and Jonathan Uptin will take those roles considering their knowledge of Darwin.

If Paul is absent, they will probably have Jonathan present as-well.

Nine no longer use green screen in their Nine News Local bulletins so I would say Darwin won’t use it as-well. Wouldn’t be surprised if a live skycam/pre-recorded loop is being implemented.

Or Samantha Heathwood given she used to present Darwin news with Paul.

I can’t imagine 9 Darwin or 10 Brisbane or WIN Victoria actively acknowledging their bulletins are presented & broadcasted from interstate

Great promo - clearly done by the network promo department in Sydney

Where do we think it will be presented from? Brisbane main set or Nine News Local set?

I’ve seen it exactly once, where Southern Cross GTS/BKN promoted their news being read from Canberra as if their news being read there was a voice for their region in Canberra.

Still - a full bulletin from Brisbane is better than the 3 minute updates but from Darwin.

Has the be the 9 Local set

6-7pm in Darwin is 6.30-7.30pm in Brisbane and the main set will be in use

I’m sure they’ve promoted it will live right?

To be on the main set they would have to pre-record at least 4.30-5.30 Brisbane time which would be 4pm-5pm in darwin - 2 hours ahead of air time

It’s live so NNL set.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the set receives an upgrade soon as it’s not practical for the 3 presenter model they are going for.

Yes which I why I said it’s probably a good thing to not mention it.

Katherine will be in Darwin. So they can easily just put both Paul’s next to each other as they did with Paul and Sam.

Hopefully they do use some wider camera angles and use some nicer lighting around the screen to make it feel bigger.

Will be interesting to see what backdrop they use as it will look dumb if they keep the current one when they do a wide angle. The set just needs some extra elements added to it on the sides and maybe a bigger screen.

I doubt Kathleen would present weather as she leads the political side of the bureau and is COS. Probably have someone like Zarisha Bradley (who was meant to present it on-location on election night but there was technical problems according to Paul).

I thought one of the articles said it was Katherine?

Katherine? Have I missed something?

A new version of the promo has been airing this week.

It has been reworded, however;

“Nine’s dedicated Darwin news team is live and local - in the heart of Darwin…

Well they’re technically right. The reporting team making the stories are on the ground in Darwin, the news bureau is in Darwin CBD, and when the bulletin goes to air it will be live and local.
