Its good to see WIN doing something right for a change. I certainly welcome any reinstatement of a news service in Darwin
This is fantastic news.
Well done WIN and NTD ![]()
If it’s coming from Newcastle I think this announcement could indicate a relaunch for NBN under WIN branding as-well/Darwin joining the NBN bulletin?
There is nothing in the announcement that indicates that at all.
There has been so much instability for this bulletin. Nine should’ve sold the station to WIN much earlier to allow for a smoother transition.
Obviously it’s how WIN do things, but they really should be taking Nine Queensland live at 5:30 and then have this at 6:30, rather than delaying the Queensland news.
Given WIN have so few journalists, I’d rather they didn’t do this and not keep spreading their resources thinner and thinner - this will no doubt be the same few minutes of news that make the updates now but filled with fluff to hit the 30 minutes.
Problem is the fluff will be even more irrelevant to the NT than the generic state stories often are.
Here’s a bold idea - run a composite WIN/Nine bulletin!
Have WIN be local 6-6.30pm and take Nine 6.30-7pm!
But I’m guessing Nine refuse to have WIN air 9News QLD at 5.30pm due to ratings for ACA and realities that follow.
20 years too late to the party. The days of new composite bulletins are well and truly over. There is only one left I think, in Tasmania. They need additional resources to maintain so unless you’ve cornered three quarters of the market, the money isn’t there.
Tasmania and 7 News at 6.30 in SNSW
I wouldn’t classify that one, that’s just state news represented. By composite I mean a regional mix of local and national news.
Which is what should be happening across all networks. No ultra city specific stories.
Win Tas is local at 5:30 and Melbourne news at 6 isn’t it?
Correct, previous poster was referring to 7TAS being a composite bulletin.
7Tas is no more a composite bulletin than 7Adelaide or 7Brisbane
Of course we are only talking about regional bulletins. Metros all have their single bulletins by default whereas the regionals either have a local bulletin, composite (combined), noodles or nothing. They don’t do ‘state/national news as a single bulletin with no local news’ in the single format and haven’t for decades.
This was posted, of all places, on NBN News Instagram page
Yes, because the people of Newcastle really give a shit about Darwin getting their news back. ![]()
Newcastle studios are definitely more capable on producing a better product for NT vs Wollongong.
Imagine it could be live too cause of the time difference.
I note the use of plurals in journalists and camera operators.. that surprises me more
I’m not that surprised that Darwin are getting a bulletin, in that I had assumed it’ll mostly be the generic news reports other markets get with maybe 1 or 2 local reports by one journo.
