Far from what it used to be, but still significantly better than the noodle updates 10 and 7 broadcast to many of their markets. Considering the economic reality of television in this day and age, Win have found a reasonable compromise with their current product.

Well WIN in the past didn’t seem interested in some places, not all, when it axed local news bulletins. Believe me regional WA and regional SA used to have local news bulletins
and although Mackay, wide bay, central west, Wagga, Griffith, Mildura and Albury did get WIN news reinstated but not their full bulletin as they did before
it remains to be seen if WIN is really that interested in providing news services to the Northern Territory. I have my doubts. But 9 did a lot of damage to news services in the past, WIN faces an uphill battle to have it restored. I am willing to bet that only news updates for 2 to 5 minutes will most likely continue

Not green screen but boxed overlay. Control room can do it on the fly.

Does a green screen overlay mean/imply a that it’s a static overlay that can’t be easily changed?

Yeah would be, or a monitor, it’s definitely not a full set.
Using a green screen means you can change the background to anything.

We’ve already seen the Darwin setup.
It’s the old screen from their previous news set. Nothing else.

The overlay clip would have been cut by a Producer/Editor and uploaded to the playout server and ENPS commanded by a code to take the olay at a certain time. It it set up in a similar way for 2 way crosses (so a Newsreader in Darwin and a reporter in Alice Springs) for example. Chroma has its uses but in a studio situation where it doesn’t exist/not relevant.
