A potential bulletin returning to NT I hear.
If WIN’s current news lineup is any indication, I’m guessing it will be padded with hyperlocal stories from the other states?
The NT is sparsely populated and Darwin itself is quite small, so it’s not like they can pad with stories from elsewhere in the NT.
Would need to be territory wide by getting Imparja involved through broadcasting any potential bulletin.
And it needs to be called WIN News. Nine brand has a poor reputation in NT after the numerous cuts and reinstatements.
what’s to say WIN will do any better?
a seperate news bulletin for Darwin is unlikely. No money. Once 9 had axed the news bulletin it will be extremely difficult for WIN to reinstate it. And even if they reinstate it it will be moved to a 5 30 pm time slot and lasting for 30 minutes from Monday to Friday on which I can’t see WIN doing that for Darwin.
Most likely they will continue with news updates from either Hobart or Wollongong
I can’t see either WIN or imparja reinstating news bulletins. The market is too small and there’s barely any money to be made there. If central Australia is lucky they may see noodle updates from either Wollongong or Hobart but I have my doubts
Would only ever be called “Darwin” (at best) or if they buy IMP (or program share with them) then maybe as “Northern Australia” on the VAST North feed (as well as NTD) which would probably also tap into generic/QLD news.
I believe there will be resistance from the owner of imparja. It will be extremely hard for WIN to buy imparja And no there probably won’t be a WIN News Northern Territory news bulletin But strange things have happened before…
IMO at best they would likely just use file vision for stories outside of Darwin
It’s just a joke
It might’ve been more interesting to see Imparja purchase Nine Darwin over WIN. It would give them a proper population centre to provide for that isn’t as remote, and a barebones noodle update operation.
Being an indigenous-owned company, I imagine they would have training programs in their maintenance and operations? Noodle updates could be an interesting addition.
IMP don’t have money?
You have more money than IMP.
Probably. ![]()
Cash Converters loan should be sufficient
No, I can tell you they’re quite tough on getting a loan. They do have standards. ![]()
But then even if Imparja has bought 9 Darwin it would have closed the 9 news Darwin bulletin and Darwin would have received the Queensland news anyway and the outcome would have been worse because Darwin would have been left without news updates
What a Win for Darwin, hopefully a local bulletin produced by the north team will be on its way at 5.30. Nine doesn’t appear to be interested in regional Australia but it is Wins bread and butter.
It’s a maybe for Darwin given that Darwin has the parliament, sports, weather and service issues to fill up the bulletin but since ABC News already does that it’s not going to be easy for WIN to compete and to reinstate the bulletin. I’m not too sure if Darwinites will really entertain the idea of a 30 minute news bulletin at 5 30 pm with a Queensland bulletin to follow thereafter.
