Nine have a talent only studio working in Surfers Paradise and Newcastle(at least for now). There is no reason why Nine could not have a TOS studio and newsroom in Darwin.
Nobody swallows the ‘ it costs too much’ line anymore - IP based studio gear has come down in cost and contribution link charges are very affordable nowadays. Bonded cellular kit even allows you to use business grade IP services to connect a studio.
Hell, look at the setup Trevor Long uses for EFTM and his crosses on Today and the big setup and cost of a studio claim is straight away put to rest. It can be done.
Well apart from the fact that the studio space already exists in Surfers Paradise and Newcastle with other presenters already working there who can read the updates for Darwin allowing the only reporter 9 has in Darwin to file actual stories.
Worth mentioning that it came out of NBN again tonight
It’s likely to stay that way until there’s a change of ownership for NBN
I can’t see much reason why they couldn’t add an extra staffer in Darwin to present the updates…
I can…money, money, money. Must be funny, in the NEC world.
