Yikes… Any reason why?
No idea.
Looks like the Chief of Staff has stopped reporting as of last Thursday too. Probably on holidays but I don’t think that’s a reason to decrease content considering Nine Darwin had staff stuck in isolation a few months ago but still managed to output news.
The problem with the current update is content as-well. It’s all fluff stories - nothing about government, council, crime etc.
For some reason Nine News Darwin is willing to spend thousands on travel costs and accommodation to send reporters on-location across Regional NT just for content in a 3-minute news opt-out.
Also featured on Today
The stories are basically irrelevant to Darwin viewers. Imparja Creative sponsor these events so they could just supply vision…
Wouldn’t be coming out of the Darwin budget, that’s why.
If it’s on Today then it appears to be of interest nationally, so I’d say that’s a fair expenditure.
Post was more aimed at how NND only has 1-2 short opt-outs a night but dedicating over half of it to an event 1500km away. Would be different if the opt-outs were shown on Imparja as-well.
Today Show part is fine however 3 out of 5 of the metro cities won’t be able to visit the events due to COVID restrictions anyway.
A good story is a good story regardless of whether people will actually travel to things featured in said story. IMO.
A locally-produced Nine News bulletin is returning to Darwin from Monday, October 5th.
The bulletin, presented by Paul Taylor, reverses a decision in 2017 which saw Jonathan Uptin relocate to Queensland for regional bulletins
Fantastic. You could see it coming after the election coverage.
Hopefully they have a sports presenter for the bulletin too. I assume an hour long?
Fantasist news… a win for the industry and for Darwin.
Will it actually be presented in Darwin or will it be coming from the regional studio in Brisbane? Either way, great win for Darwin!
Brisbane. Same setup as per Election night (I would assume) - the regional studio they do the “Local” bulletin from.
Yes - announced today!
Hoorah.
Will be interesting to see how the ratings change, and whether Nine will have to spend time regaining some lost viewers.
Also goes to show how important it is to live in a market with a O&O station. Nine are investing in the smallest cap city market. Imagine if Seven or Nine actually owned a station in Canberra.
This explains why Nine has maintained the studio facilities in Darwin despite moving late last year.
What do you mean by this? Won’t this whole bulletin come out from Brisbane?
The article sort of indicates it’s locally produced.
Need some more clarification.
I assumed it meant that everything will be packaged in Darwin (etc), but the actual output would be from Brisbane.
Happy to be clarified.
@Nicholas From what I’m being told it’s being done in Brisbane with weather done on-location in Darwin (as I said a month ago)
Zarisha Bradley will be the “weather girl”
I doubt Paul Taylor will relocate to Darwin unless he is being offered a hefty salary?
