Nine is most likely started producing more local updates after they heard Seven was launching local updates for Darwin. Yet again the formula of ‘Our opponent has done something, we MUST copy it’’ lives on

Kind of ironic that they didn’t give it a second thought when SCA was making updates for Darwin like they always have, but as soon as Seven takes ownership they’re suddenly interested

I do wonder if there is something happening in the background with government to see Nine and WIN do these little things to perhaps justify additional journalism funding. The timing is peculiar because you would expect these to be cut back if nothing changes over the next 12 months.

In the wake of the latest developments in Newcastle and Northern NSW I am wondering if the owner of WIN, Bruce Gordon would put his hands up and express interest in 9 Darwin and the Northern Territory market?

If they got NBN for what they did and they cover a much larger population, doubt Nine would get much for Darwin. Probably looks better to say you have a station in ever mainland capital city.
Currently nine do not own any television stations in Canberra and Hobart
Nine will need to find another studio for the NTD news given today’s news re sale of NBN since those updates are read in Newcastle.
Brisbane seems to be the most obvious candidate.

Source says it’s confirmed to staff NTD will remain with Nine, and they will rework it to ensure the news stays at Nine

They’ll probably move it to either the Brisbane or Gold Coast studio.
