Issues here in Sydney on nine news. Story wouldnt play. They crashed to an ad and have now shifted to nine news Melbourne.

Was a very short ad break maybe 2 or 3 ads I thought there was just something wrong with my stream
Right at the start of the bulletin before Charlie threw to the first package you could see him look briefly to the side of the studio.
Update at 6:42pm AEDT: Sydney still receiving Melbourne news and it’s been acknowledged on air “and to our Sydney viewers thanks for sticking with us”.

If I remember correctly - Some of the bulletins (& even Today I think) came from Melbourne
There was a Combined NSW & VIC bulletin as well
The guy who is doing the sport today in the Melbourne news is good. I can see a bright future for him. But he would have to probably move to Sydney unfortunately but he could host the Tennis instead of James Bracey.

A source has told me 9 Syd control room overheated and everything crashed - hence the Melb simulcast

Surely Nine has A/C it’s 2026. If a random school in Remote NSW can have it - they should too
They would have air conditioning but it is possible a hardware fault happened for example if the fans in one of the core switches or a computer the system would overheat no matter how good the air conditioning is.

Ah yes.. In this day and age.. 1 fan in a PC makes the entire operation shut down. Surely they’d have backups?

Yeah surely after they had the outage in 2021
Yes I’m sure they had no backups and just say a prayer each night that all goes off without an issue at 5:59. Also one fan in one PC is probably simplifying it a bit too much.

You would be surprised how cheap and cheerful a lot of Radio & TV broadcasting installations are: equipment duplication is only done where affordable and backup power plants are lower capacity than in days gone by and can only power essential gear. Aircon often only has one chilled water source. Backup program paths are often on consumer grade Internet services. UPS’s in rack rooms are under provisioned and not regularly serviced.
I am not familiar with 9 ODS but the old TCN at Willoughby was a working museum in places.
