Sorry to burst your illusions of him, but I know of Peter mainly through this forum, he is rarely seen outside of NSW with exception to when he hosts the ocasional national news event like a federal election broadcast or similar.
I couldn’t vote for him one way or another based on the rare ocasion that i’ve seen him
Pete has been number 1 in Sydney for over a decade! He deserves it!!
In that case, Rick & Sue in Perth have been number one for over 3 decades! They deserve it! ![]()
This award should be for national faces only.
Agree with this. I also don’t think he is that great compared to other talent out there.
Hmmm never seen them in a national bulletin??? Pete done election coverage, interest rate decisions, Covid news, late news etc
Once every three years.
Once every month.
Not anymore.
Haven’t even done that in recent times or as often as he used to.
If he was still on 60 Minutes then sure, but he’s mainly Sydney’s personality nowadays. If the Logies was a pure Sydney awards then sure…
He’s probably good by Sydney standards ![]()
If we’re going down that road… Sue covered the Sydney siege nationally, and I think she might have broken 9/11 as well?
not 9/11m not nationally anyway, but they did Prince Philip’s death nationally.
I mean, Pete is essentially 9’s main news anchor, yes he’s Sydney’s presenter but he does do national stuff, Brian Hendersen never did that, Peter Hitchiner doesn’t do it. But I do think nominating an autocue reader for this award is a bit much.
Sue did rolling coverage during the Sydney Siege, and also was part of the news special last year on the 40th anniversary of Cyclone Tracy. Plus both her and Rick have done many late national news updates, and breaking news flashes.
But the award probably should be for those who are the main presenters of national news programs.
I’m surprised Jono is not there
This came to mind, she was adblibbing really well and handled it like it was something she did regularly, despite the very rare national work they do.
Rick and Sue do the odd late updates sometimes, and of course they get brought on to Sunrise whenevery they hit another milestone in their tenure. Pete does more national stuff on the semi regularly occasion but yeah if he has got a nom, which isn’t IMO undeserved, then Rick and Sue are well over due for their Gorld Loarrgiiee
I’m sure they’ll get some sort of Logie or other award at some point, probably when they retire.
It’ll probably just be a “Special Achievement Award” or something similar rather than a Logie as such.
I think QTQ are just seeing his contract out to be fair.
Nine News weekdays wins its second national ratings this year with strong performances in all markets. Brisbane was the best up 40% on last year. Nine won this year by 25,000 while in 2024 Seven was almost 100,000 ahead of Nine for a big turnaround.
