Gem rates a fraction of what the main channel does so it’s impact would be minimal. The whole idea of there being a main channel and a secondary channels is just outdated thinking. There would be more people annoyed by the news not being on at 6 then people annoyed by Gem not showing whatever it is they show at 6pm on a Sunday night.

Nine are somewhat fortunate that there is some life in this game. When the suspension occured it was looking very one sided.

In Brisbane there’s a movie on from 4:30pm to 6:30pm right now on 9Gem.
Have you tried changing channels on 9Now on a Smart TV when a sports program is on? Takes at least a minute for it all to load - been doing it all week during the swimming trials.
If people want news they will just switch to ABC or 7 it’s that simple. There is no major breaking news to cut off the footy at 6 and show the News. It’s not like this happens common. It’s only a few times a year the news getting delayed.

That’s besides the point news should stop for noone yet alone delayed Rugby League games. The game should have been put on a multi channel and the news continued as scheduled at 6pm

Sport is late in the bulletin. Looks like Nine might run the bulletin overtime bumping prime time later.
Brisbane ran sport up to 6:58 and have gone to a break ahead of weather so will finish late.
Sydney finished sport in time to run the weather but didn’t - it will be after the break for a late finish as well.

Because there are clearly members who are OCD about this stuff and I gather, cant help but post. Perhaps the comments should be moderated so these continual trivial debates dont need to exist.
