No. The old backdrop was 16:9 and they’re now trying to stretch it to fit over more of the videowall.
They really need a new HQ feed.

In all metro markets they should extend the video wall around towards the right hand side of the desk so they can have sport presented from there. Currently sport is presented on the left hand side of the desk and then the sports presenter has to sit on the right hand side of the desk at the end of the weather segment in Sydney and Melbourne. It just looks messy. The weather preview after sport can then be done from the video wall if they were to extend it around to the right hand side of the desk.
Nine has had their sport presenters on the left side of the desk for a long time, just as Seven has their sport presenters on the right side of the desk.
It won’t change.

They just need to get more creative in presentation again. They used the set well when it first launched in Melbourne in 2017 but has since become a bit stale.
Tony used to present the first story standing, and Peter would do a standing headline recap towards the end of the bulletin.

In Sydney, this is still the case for James Bracey at the start of sport, while Peter Overton has stopped recapping the headlines in the penultimate segment for quite some time now.

Maybe it’s time to update the entire set. But will come as expensive for all 5 cities.

I don’t think we’re quite there yet. They just need to allocate some time and resources to tidying up some of the graphics to work properly with the set/screen/angles.
The shifting sports presenter isn’t an issue at all, your average viewer doesn’t notice/care.

Well Nine Melbourne have zoomed out on the Melbourne backdrop, but a shame they couldn’t zoom it out to what it was between 2009 and 2023.

Not sure where else to ask this, but do these Nine News threads need some consolidation?
The 2024 Refresh is now rolled out, so it’s now just the current Nine News Appearance.
The random separate threads for the Late bulletin and the Darwin bulletin all just discuss stuff that already falls into either Presenters/Reporters or Content/Appearance already. There’s 5 threads to discuss things that fall into 2 existing categories really.

Big long threads can fall over though and crash. I think it is cleaner to break out topics when possible; makes it easier to zero in on the topics you are interested in. The Refresh thread will probably be closed soon.

I agree. I prefer separate threads - easier to find specific things when looking through the archives too. Relaunch thread should be closed though - it’s now rolled out nationally.

We’ll if both presenters are there, it would be a little bit weird and insensitive reporting on a murder from a concert. It’s fine having one presenter there is necessary, but both is not needed.
So have separate threads for each state? Nine News Queensland, Nine News Sydney etc? Is that’s too many seeing as most stuff applies across them?
The current Presenters/Reporters and Appearance/Content usually cover the board pretty well.
