The tweeter doth protest too much me thinks.

What did you guys do to SydneyCityTV :stuck_out_tongue:

Is worthwhile having a mod reach out to him and trying to smooth things over to see if he wants to come back?

I know why he left, but this all just seems a bit too petty.

Yeah I get that - without wanting to speak out of turn and derail this thread too much…MS did reach out last year shortly after he left but I think it’s fair to say he sees things about how he left and was treated fundamentally different to how we do.

Maybe to test any glitches or last minute changes?

Impossible it would seem because THIS website has a toxic culture, if what he has heard is correct. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

He must be reading here somehow if he is writing that. He just doesn’t want to admit it

I know why Seven News in Melbourne won in the ratings last year. There are times when Seven covers a report that Nine doesn’t. Last night Seven News had a report which was their lead story of severe thunderstorms issued for Victoria and also showed footage of Wedderburn residents sandbagging after the floods. Unfortunately though Nine didn’t bother to cover this major report. Poor form!

There is probably other times where Nine covers a report that Seven doesn’t bother to cover so I’m not going to bother to switch to watching Seven News.

Canberra, Wollongong and Sydney and Victoria are the only 2 states I’d watch Nine News in. The other states I would watch Seven News.

7 Melbourne seems to have a more local focus. 9 seems to have more national and international focus.

That’s just my view. What does everyine else think?

Nine mostly focuses on local stories

Both equally the same.

I think it has a bit to do with news director Sean Menegola. He tends to have a hyperlocal focus. He was known in Perth at 7 and 9 for being that way, sometimes almost ‘pedantic’, but to his credit he had lead 7 News Melbourne to ratings success by being competitive.

9 Melbourne almost has a legacy success to it, based on longevity of presenters and a “class” that 7 lacks. But it seems like viewers have decided to switch a bit!

That’s putting it mildly. Alison Fan can tell you all about that. We lost a talented long term reporter because of his arrogance.

We give Rick and Susannah credit for TVW’s success, and for good reason, but there is no denying Menegola played a vital role in that too. Credit where it is due.

You can now see the results of his work at HSV. Mitch is good but he will never have the same appeal as Rick and Susannah. I’m not sure Alicia and Tom will be enough to take back the lead without content changes but we’ll see how this plays out.

Melbourne is very much a behind the scenes contest now. Changing the presenters won’t do it. Graphics won’t do it. This is all about content and direction. Just hope they don’t take inspiration from QTQ. I’ll never understand how that works for them.

Why bother? lol

Well i always liked his interactions and he was a regular poster on this forum for about 12 years.

A shame he doesn’t want to be here anymore, but that’s life I guess.

This website was pretty toxic around Covid times I recall, when media spy collectively lost its mind when I suggested we needed to be mindful and balance the different types of damage Covid was causing society not only health aspects of the years of social and economic pain that would follow Covid (here we are )

I was shot down with pretty insane vitriol for sharing different opinions. It was pretty alarming at the time.

There was almost no balance or objectivity in the discussion here. It was an aggressive pile on for anyone with a different POV
