We can dream, but i highly doubt it? Who rates better in Canberra BTW?
Can’t see any other reason why they’d build a “huge studio and new news set” unless it is planned upgrades for election coverage or a new political show?

IIRC Seven News rates better than Nine, however, ABC News outrates both.

I’m really surprised Seven and Nine have not launched streaming or FAST 24/7 news channels.
In the US ans Canada local markets as small as 3 million have launched 24/7 streaming news channels using existing news bullteins, replays, and stories played on content wheels read by hosts at a pretty simple set set up. Obviously not hufely expensive. If they cam make it finacially viable for 3 million can’t see why Seven or Nine can’t do it for 26 million nationally.
Additionally they can repurpose Surnise, Today, ACA and local news stories from all their benefits.

Nine seem to be slowly rolling out it’s curated list of FAST channels (Seven got theirs off the ground much quicker) so something may be in the works, and they reportedly had a news channel in the works but seems to have been dumped with the new news boss.
They’ve both sort of dipped their toe into the FAST streaming news realm with current affairs shows Spotlight / 60 Mins themed channels, but doesn’t seem like it would take much to get news ones off the ground.

A big shame Melbourne has moved back to the regular studio. You could notice how much better the backdrop was last night in the other studio. This year their cityscape backdrop has been the worst in the country. So blurry and out of focus. It’s horrendous.

It’s been like it all year, I don’t understand how they’ve allowed it to go to air. It’s horrible.
Why on earth do they have to zoom in on it during the bulletin? It looks shit.
