Personally I would rather see (or more to the point, hear) Nine News do a 2016/2017 updated version of their theme music, rather than bringing back the 2000-06 version after a 10 year+ hibernation.

Due to Nine’s cricket coverage Nine News will be 30 minutes Thursday-Saturday next week in markets except Perth.

Not to mention that a longer Opening theme is kind of needed these days, with the way that TV news Openers have evolved.
Prior to about a decade or so ago, Nine’s 6pm news bulletins (although this can be said about all networks to an extent) generally started with a preview of only three headlines in about 15-20 seconds, so the short Opening theme used back then was appropriate. These days, Nine’s 6pm News Openers usually have about five or six headlines and generally last 30-45 seconds, sometimes a minute or more if it’s a big news day.

Image was uploaded on the post all normally when I posted it, but now that I go back and check it’s done that same stupid thing of changing it to “Uploading…”
I had a similar problem in another thread, it was saying “Uploading” for about a minute, I just hit “Reply” and that seemed to force it through for me,
Had the same with PNG, changed to JPG and it was fine. I guess MS struggles with huge image uploads. The Nine News Now graphic looked it was a coverup style as the animations behind it was Nine News. It was gone after the ad break.

A couple elements are different from Melbourne’s opener compared to Sydney’s. For example, the missing generic title card after the headlines and the different opening music (although it has been like that for a while now).

What kind of special audio?
I’m guessing some sort of sombre sounding music (theme music variant or otherwise), knowing the major Queensland story that undoubtedly dominated tonight’s bulletin along with probably every other in Australia tonight.
