Is there a finance segment on Sunday bulletins?
Not in the local bulletins. There is finance discussion in the Late bulletin on Sunday.
Multiple networks have 4K studio cameras⌠they just donât output at that resolution.
Which is why you donât need 4K cameras in a News Studio. The broadcasts are only relevant for the day it goes to air, thereâs absolutely no need for a news studio to have 4K, without 4K output anywhere, i.e. from the transmitters.
Read between the lines; Australiaâs broadcasting standard isnât changing anytime soon.
Itâs pulling teeth in the U.S. to get ATSC 3.0 up and running. Apart from the networks, very few operations here have 4K equipment ready to go.
I meant a 4K citycam for live back drop. Not studio cam
Ahem.
Iâm not sure why you would buy a standard 1080p camera in 2020. Itâs called future proofing.
A 4K studio camera looks much better despite outputting in 1080p.
Itâs honestly getting harder to find cameras which only go up to 1080p. My whole side business runs on 4K cameras because why buy a 1080p camera for the same price⌠If you visit a local camera store you may struggle to find a newer camera which doesnât go up to 4K except lower end DSLRs.
I donât think people understand how outdated 1080p is these days. Platforms like YouTube have now stopped considering 720p as a HD resolution.
Brett introduced the Premier in Melbourne. Mark Burrows presenting elsewhere from what looks like the regional studio.
While SD->HD was a natural progression (and was done on the wave of 4x3 to 16x9), 4K is largely reserved for the film world (given thatâs, essentially, what they shoot on for the larger screens) ⌠4K broadcast just wonât take off - like 3D - because the majority of home televisions will never be large enough to benefit from such a resolution.
I also think YouTuberâs who shoot on Red cameras and release in 4K have too much money to burn and the compression of the site makes it pointless.
Thatâs the first Iâve heard of it⌠outside of some trials, one offs or special events.
10 doesnât. And I highly doubt 7 or 9 does either, given that they are only just making the transition to native HD.
Ten canât even bring us HD studio shots during the news from anywhere but Sydney. Itâs a joke.
I think the use of 4k for live backgrounds would be beneficial. I donât think we should rule out 4k.
A lot of dramas and shows are filmed in 4k these days - its not a fad lol I watch all Netflix dramas in 4k where they are available. I know Halifax Retribution was filmed in 4k. Just because it isnât broadcast on TV in 4k, doesnât mean that it canât still be produced using those cameras. A lof of content produced now if for multiple platforms - Halifax will be world wide distributed as well as land on streaming platforms, so I imagine it will be enjoyed in 4k down the line.
For Nine - it all depends on the control room infrastructure they are installing. From what has been reported a lot of the new fit out is state of the art - world class in comparison to the other networks and I canât imagine the equipment they are installing at the new building is just the same oleâas they will be setting it up for now and the future beyond.
âonly justâ? Nine on the east coast at least (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and parliament house in Canberra) has been full HD for some years now, havenât they? Adelaide and Perth would have been HD from when both moved, if not before.
In terms of equipment lifespan⌠yes, only just.
Instead of when HD came in almost twenty years ago.
Pretty sure that is SD. Seems a strange omission from the HD chain.
Agree, just like with SD/HD, downscaled HD (to SD) still looked much better than native SD.
All Nine stations including NT output in Full HD.
Perth and Adelaide went HD when they shifted to the city. Darwin got the previous Dianella cameras and some studio tech but recently upgraded in 2019 for the move to Mitchell Street.
Alicia Muling is heading up to the Queensland hub tomorrow
Except NBN.
