Personally I now think that they should revert back to the white-look on set. The dark blue has aged the set now.
I always figured it was so that they could say they break the news first.
Melbourne has accented their entire set in that blueish colour, whereas the rest of the country uses white around the set.
It was nice as first but now the white has aged much better.
I think the 50 Shades of blue still looks nice,
I think the white is definitely superior and classier IMO
It’s certainly not bad at all, but I agree with @MBB that the white is classier.
Nine News Melbourne will air a special edition bulletin tonight at 9:30pm and tomorrow night at 8:30pm on the COVID-19 crisis in Victoria. Brett McLeod will present both bulletins
They should be doing local inserts in today too
Don’t know if this counts as Nine News or not - but I saw a very weird video ad (only caught the trail end), where some company has taken a clip of Nine News being presented and overdubbed it with a computerised voice to promote an app.
That said, I wouldn’t be too shocked to see the same style for the Aldi app at some point.
It happens every time for cash rate announcements and has probably for at least ten years. RBA release update to Reuters instantly so when it is released it goes instantly on the screen.
Though it would be good if they had something that converted the font “on the fly”.
The blue just made the top light on the desk look weird. If that was also blue it would be a lot better. But white still wins, the contrast is far better with white.
Promo - only Nine News is bringing you … coverage of the “chaos, congestion and confusion.”
At least they’re not “Mexicans”.
Still somewhat offensive (and that promo is ridiculous!)
That is one of the worst promos I’ve ever seen from an Australian news service. That’s fucking pathetic.
Sorry wtf is this shit? I am laughing so hard.
I have no words.
I can’t tell if they are taking the piss or actually being serious - this is embarrassing and it’s the main reason why I’ve taken my viewing to Seven.
That promo should not have made it past the pre-production stage, let alone to air/online.
It is bad even by Nine’s standard. But it’s what we’ve come to expect in SEQ, especially from Nine, but increasingly from Seven as well. The problem is, viewers seem to respond to this.
Simple solution - turn on at 5 to the best news in the south east…
It’s not even good in a a bad way
There is a way to do tabloid. This is probably the worst promo I’ve seen in a long time. I think it does long term damage to the brand in the market
Someone very inexperienced approved this
