Walkley-winning journalism there!
Best belongs in the bin (pardon the pun).
I’ve always wondered why nine don’t use the Melbourne reporters to file the reports for the Sydney bulletin. They’ve done this for years and never makes any sense. So the two main stories about the Covid outbreak specifically relating to Melbourne and victors have been filed by Mark Burrows and Eddy Meyer. It’s weird.
Possibly because Sydney viewers are more familiar with Mark Burrows and Eddy Myer (Damian Ryan too) than Nine’s Melbourne reporters?
Brisbane’s first story was on the same topic, but filed by Adam Hegarty. He then appeared in the studio to provide an update on QLD military officers heading south. Melissa then crossed to a Melbourne reporter (I didn’t catch her name) at the housing commission towers.
That may be the case but it’s tacky. They’re just repackaging reports and footage from people actually on the scene. I do not like it. It lacks authenticity.
It’s not that. Sydney usually provides a national perspective on the local story. The Melbourne reporter is usually filing the story for their local viewers.
But in say this, they could easily overcome this issue.
Why would Sydney viewers need or want certain aspects that relate specifically to the population of Melbourne presented to them? GTV would be relaying information relevant to the communities effected by the lockdown measures such as the restrictions that apply to them, where to find help in the local area and what services are/aren’t available to them. The Sydney reporters give a broader perspective to their audience and eliminate the superfluous information.
When there is a story of national significance happening, why not get the local reporters to record two reports, one for local viewers & one for national, surely that wouldn’t be too hard to achieve.
not at all.
it’s just because they adapt it to an interstate audience. take out hyper local references etc.
Did the ‘Made for Adelaide’ promo include footage from Seven News? If not then I believe there’s a new promo which featured Seven News Melbourne footage (credited as news from Melbourne) and compared it to the local news production in Adelaide.
It’s a Reuters finance feed I believe.
Why would it appear on the super? It’s happened a few times over multiple months so it can’t be a “technical glitch”.
I think it’s a live feed of stories they get into the newsroom, but they put it on the screen for the interest rate decision, as it would be quicker than typing out their own super when the decision comes through.
