Is the black and white needed? Surely they could be a bit more reserved.
Can you watch Nine News episodes on repeat? I see on the 9Now app they force you to watch the whole thing. No fast forwarding etc
That doesn’t sound normal. There may be ad-breaks during the news however I believed the app allowed you to fast forward.
9’s No Fear Bulletin.
First headline: “Day of Devastation”. That’s smart.
Had the potential to be a good promo but I ended up laughing with “Coronavirus: Facts Not Fear”.
It was in reference to Albanese’s speech in parliament when he talked about last crises like this was in black and white times and now it’s in colour times.
A very impactful cold open:
New dark background tonight.
Proof a lengthy opener with teaser after teaser isn’t better.
Get to the crux of the news straight away.
Grabbed me instantly.
Should be the background of Nightline if Nine decides to push ahead with a revival after all.
Given that 9 have gone to the effort of redesigning their national backdrop to create a nighttime version, I’d very much like to see them start to play with the lighting on their set to make it feel a bit darker. The 7 Martin Place set shows how much lighting can change the tone of the show.
I’m not really sure what they could change to achieve this - perhaps dimming any lights in the lighting grid that aren’t being used on talent?
Big fan of this backdrop!
Is nine’s national 8.30/9pm bulletin a pretty standard 6pm style News bulletin - or is it more of a original format with analysis/ discussion / information like The Latest?
It’s like the 6pm news with packages and live crosses to reporters, and the odd interview with an expert. As was 7’s local late news last night.
@nationalnews 7 is doing late local news?
Only last night (at this stage; excl. WA) due to The Latest moved to 7pm.
Seven has another 30 minute gap tonight so will see if the numbers were good enough to do it again tonight.
Disappointing that 9 is airing their AEDT bulletin an hour later in QLD, with most of the news now updated given Scott Morrison’s latest press conference. This is a big benefit of 7’s local late news. Especially since Peter keeps mentioning an upcoming press conference with Scomo which was shown live into QLD an hour ago.
When it comes to ‘flagship’ bulletins such as Nine’s late news & The Latest, the networks don’t mimic what the ‘big 3’ US networks do for their evening news and update those bulletins for later time zones when/if needed? It would prevent the problem you outlined
