They’re inviting people to go to 253 St Georges Terrace 7am Monday for Today Perth News. So it looks like they will have a Sunrise type interaction with viewers in the mornings
As can be seen from the caps I posted, it looks like the main screen stretches past the frame to add animations to it. I thought it was curved until I looked closer. Also the main screen stretches all the way to left so I guess they can use that part for special features etc. The background is LIVE, I would assume this was taken last Wednesday or Thursday as there was burn-offs to the east of Perth and can see the slight haze from it.
It makes Seven News Perth look as bad as something that is now 10 years ago. Really though Nine needs to promote local news in HD as Seven is still stuck in SD.
Set is a 10/10 for me…
I completely agree. Nine is using the Nine HD logo for pretty much every program promo and lineup now so I do think that they should use a “Nine News HD” logo on the news, at least in the markets that have their 6pm bulletins produced in HD.
Yes virtual sets are so last decade lol
Looks terrific. The new set will be rolled out nationally as well as new graphics in the coming weeks.
This would have to be the best news set in Australia’s history.
Can you confirm this?
I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that only Nine News Perth will receive the new look next week. Other cities will eventually get it, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here.
Judging by the size of Perth’s new set in the promo, the other cities who are NOT moving studios will probably have to go on temporary sets for a few weeks while the current/old one is taken down and the new one is assembled. And there’ll also have to be lighting tests, rehearsals, promotional shots and all the rest before the new set(s) can make their debut on a bulletin.
Of course I could be wrong, but I’m willing to predict that it won’t be until at least Early-Mid October before another city debuts the new Nine News look.
Oh shhhhiiiiiiieettt
GTV’s studio is big enough to accomdate a set of a similar size, their current news set only takes up around 1/2-2/3 of the studio space with the Footy Classified set taking up space where ACA used to be next to it.

Exciting!

The new Perth set looks wonderful! Its about time a network in Australia produced a multi purpose set for a news service.
That’s the style 7Sydney should have gone IMO.
Don’t be surprised if 9News Sydney gets the new set quite soon, the current one is looking horridly drab and old lately.
Interesting to see what it looks like in use. No doubt will be watching the ratings to see if it can help Nine can improve on their results out west.
Yes, what an investment nine have put into this set! Easily the best in the country.
And it wouldn’t surprise me if Nine News Sydney moves to studio 2, which would accommodate for the large set that 9 News Perth is receiving with WWOS moving to studio 1.
9 News in Queensland is just 30 minutes next Saturday to make room for Riverfire at 6.30pm
