In hindsight, Rick and Sue should have been made an offer too good to refuse! Throw the kitchen sink at them.
Rick has spoken a few times about being offered a job “at another channel”
He has stated that he & Sue had agreed at the time to not jump ship unless they both went together (not wanting to break up a good team). Which sort of squashes the stories that they don’t like each other. So I don’t think the offer was for both of them.
I do not for one minute believe those rumours. You couldn’t sustain that level of fake for that many years.
Surely if Rick & Sue really hated each other, the gossip hounds of Perth probably would’ve got their hands on leaked Naomi Robson/Amber Sherlock-like footage at some point within the last 35 years?
Anyway…since this is the Nine News Content and Appearance thread, let’s get back to discussing that!
They’re worth more together and they know it.
No chance of gossip hounds writing much critically about them given Big Kez owns The West and Sunday Times these days.
That’s only of recent times tho.
I think it’s been overstated of late. I think the fact they’re not friends - they have said in the past they don’t see much of each other outside work - has been turned into something more than it is.

There was a huge backlash in the press and it was a tough battle. Pete and I had many conversations in the corridors about the media attention and how we were getting little wins here and there.
Pete still talks about that time because the whole newsroom banded together with one objective. It was one of the few times everyone came together with a common goal.
It was a very special time.
We did a huge campaign with Roscoe and started to get some interesting results from the get-go.
Nine panicked, there’s no doubt, which helped us at seven gain momentum.
Roscoe was an easy sell and we would get him out on trains and out to the suburbs which connected with viewers.
When I joined nine the first thing Fargo said to me was “I suppose you’ll be putting me on a train”. I said “absolutely yes”!
Too much blue.
If you don’t mind me saying here, I think the only way to come full circle is if we saw Sandra Sully drive a train for a promo.
Maybe she could pump some water out of the Metro tunnels.

Sydney’s 4pm news is showing the national backdrop(no opera house)
Seems QTQ aren’t going to air their local bulletin today… With Vicky addressing “that’s where we leave our Gold Coast viewers.” Technical problems?
