Nine News Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

Nine’s Afternoon News will be rebranded to “Nine Live” in all markets, I’m guessing?

Maybe new Melbourne set too? :stuck_out_tongue:

9 Perth went to air after 7pm tonight due to cricket. They made the most of the delay with the events tonight and presented it very well.

9’s bulletin is so slick.

Just caught a promo on Nine Perth saying, “There’s a chance on the way in Perth” and says at the end of the promo, Nine News Live & Local Starts January 30th at 4 o’clock weekdays (still using the old Nine News logo for some reason). I managed to record it, when I was recording the update on the Australia Day tragedy in Perth and to see if the “CC” glitch was happening here, but I can’t upload it on the here, so heres some caps (Apologises for the quality):

Scherri-Lee Biggs as the anchor?

So is this 9 Live AT 4 basically just the same thing that we already had anyway? Unless they are extending it an hour? i saw the ad myself . I don’t get the point of localized bulletins at 4pm then having the national delayed again at 4.30…(Well in Perth anyway).

Sounds like local news at 4 in the 5 large O&O markets

Making up for the 5PM local bulletin being taken off for an extended Millionaire Hotseat perhaps?

Seems like based on Read it Firsts post above (big live changes coming weekdays and it’s more than just 3 cities)

Brisbane Perth and Adelaide already get local afternoon news

Seems like perhaps Sydney and Melbourne will
Be launching 4pm hour long news with the “live” moniker in the total.

So it apparently will be:
3PM: Nine News Now
4PM: Nine News Live

Wouldn’t that sound a tad confusing to viewers? Doesn’t the title Nine News Live make the title Nine News Now redundant (Now vs Live)?

I’ve been of the opinion since the start that Nine News Now should be rebranded to something else. It’s barely a news program.

Use the news desk, keep the format exactly the same, but just rebadge it Afternoons on Nine or something so the main Nine News brand isn’t tarnished by celeb trash and useless Chatroom segments.

THISafterno … um. Wait.

Maybe not.

I am definitely going with that.

Scherri-Lee Biggs as the anchor [for Perth]
[/quote] I honestly hope not. Surely Tim or Emmy, Tracy Vo, Ebbeny Faranda, Michael Genovese or Lee Steele will anchor. Nine can’t be that stupid that they will allow a model to do the bulletin.

I think we will see Brett McLeod for Melbourne and Jayne Azzopardi for Sydney.

If anyone should be presenting it should be Ebbony Faranda. This idea of local broadcasts is an alright idea but I really don’t see the need when Nine pretty much produce 7.5 hours of news on there main channel. I often hear people complaining about these local broadcasts because it’s near 6pm and they tend to repeat the stories… but of course these people don’t have to watch the afternoon broadcast but still.

You’re implying she doesn’t work for the station or present the weather for them at all. You do realise she was studying communications at uni, which would qualify her much more than if she was just a model.

Lee Steele should get the gig. She’s STW’s best presenter imo.

From Monday Perth are producing an hour bulletin at 4.

Terrible that regional viewers will be subjected to a capital city focused bulletin at 4:00pm just as Nine are expunging the 6:00pm capital city bulletin from regional areas in Qld, Sth NSW and Vic. :scream:

Maybe once the regional bulletins start, Nine could use the 4PM local news to cover state-wide including regional stories?

It’s possible that the Syndey/Melbourne bulletin will remain the same and just be re-branded.
