Nine News Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

We should be seeing a new set tomorrow night with Hitch presenting.

From what Iā€™ve seen, Pete is generally more enthusiastic when Kenny Sutcliffeā€™s on.

Iā€™ve always thought he was an odd presenter not just with Cam but many aspects of the job.

Is Tony Jones back in Melb tomorrow?

Hopefully Cam Williams will adapt to presenting standing up and so will we. He definitely needs to fix the hem on his pants though! New opening graphics definitely suit the new graphics that commenced last year despite it not being the music suitable opening graphics for a news service IMO. Will be interesting to see how Hitch ā€œfits inā€ with the set tomorrow night (hopefully!).

He listened to me! :joy:

Blink and youā€™ll miss it

Why not put the stool with Peteā€™s makeup bag on his other side, out of shot?

Weather area looks to have been executed better than in Perth. Less clunky.

It looks to me that the set is the same size as the one in Perth. What do others think?

Interested to see how Melbourne does the Weather. Livinia normally ends her weather at the desk with Pete.

This is true, but it was more of an update in the previous look. But still would be pretty flashy to have the new set too lol.

And as for your question I prefer Nineā€™s set in Adelaide over Sevenā€™s because I feel that Sevenā€™s set is very 2 dimensional looking to me.

Is it a bit smaller? Everything seems closer together and thereā€™s far less vertical space in all the wide shots. Might just be a stylistic thing.

There is no need to have a screen in front of a screen, Perth can get away with it since they have Today Perth News and remove the other screen. In saying that isnā€™t it just a waste of screens if Sydney only produces one broadcast a day from that set?

As iconic and much loved as Ken is, imagine how badly he wouldā€™ve stumbled and struggled presenting a news bulletin from this new set!

While Iā€™m glad to finally see a new set after seeing the same one (well, almost) every night for nearly eight years, personally I think the average viewer is going to find this a bit too overwhelming. Maybe Iā€™d like it better if there was a more simplistic and to the point graphics package, I donā€™t know.

Bring on the ABC News relaunch I say, Iā€™m sure theyā€™ll do something better than both Seven and Nine combined!

Shots used in Perth are zoomed out a lot more. You can see the lighting grid in perths shots

Hopefully the end up removing the screen in front of screen. Looks way too cluttered. Why not utilise the brand new panelled screen theyā€™ve just invested in.

Does that black platform/base spin around?

Seriously?? Youve bagged this set since day 1. There is nothing wrong with it and viewers are going to love it, Ken would have adapted and probably loved it. I dont get involved in stuff much, but i just find your views bizarre. In 5 years time, a set like this will be the norm, which will be great for Australian TV. The traditional sets are finally disappearing and I for one am thrilled. The team look at home on the new set and I cant wait for the rest of the rollout.
