This looks was just terrible. It wouldn’t have been so bad if they didn’t use that “Times New Roman”-esque font.
Agreed. Judging by the tapes, they really started using it on everything by around September/October. Shocking.
Not to mention the mixed font sizes and CaPs
All that didn’t matter in the end, because Nine won the 2006 ratings season (just) thanks to the Commonwealth Games coverage.
It was also the the fifth and final year of them having the AFL broadcasting rights.
HOw many weeks did CHannel Nine win in 2006 ratings year? How many weeks for Perth also?

Whoops, seems like they were using a variety of serif/Times New Roman-esque fonts throughout the year, still so bad though. I might be in the minority, but I really do like the promo supers. Everything else though
I reckon if they modelled the entire package off a style like this for all shows it would’ve looked quite good.
This package was woeful, it has actually aged horribly too IMO.
Agreed. The graphical looks both Seven & Ten were using during the same time period have also aged horribly.
It was never well liked in the first place, there was quite signifcant mourning here on MS when Nine retired the well loved package that was used immediately prior to the introduction of boxy (7 colours / 7 days).
It has aged so, so badly, easily looks a decade older than it actually was.
I still don’t know what was going through their head when they introduced the boxy logo.
They wanted to transition from colourful and fun to classy and upmarket, but failed miserably. We Heart TV brought them back to reality once again.
This was the “vibrator” episode of the version of Family Feud hosted by Bert Newton.
