Odd variation with the Thursday late news between MEL/ADE and PER.
Yes strang. It’s been that way for about a month.
UNLOCK THE SECRETS KEPT BY THE WORLD’S HIGHEST PEAK
EXPEDITION EVEREST
TUESDAY, MAY 30, AT 8:55PM ON CHANNEL 9 & 9NOW
Mount Everest’s greatest secrets are waiting to be uncovered in an unrivalled adventure when Expedition Everest premieres tomorrow night on Channel 9 and 9Now in an Australian free-to-air-first.
This documentary follows the National Geographic and Rolex Perpetual Planet Expedition as a team of geologists, glacial experts, biologists, geographers and climate scientists conduct the most extensive scientific expedition ever undertaken on the mountain.
Expedition Everest sees the notorious Khumbu Glacier mapped in stunning detail, biologists studying extreme lifeforms, and a team of Sherpas and scientists climbing straight towards the “death zone” to install the highest weather station in the world.
The groundbreaking project illuminates the threats posed by melting glaciers to the nearby Himalayan communities, and offers insights into the motivations of the team willing to risk their lives to study the impact of climate change on one of Earth’s most extreme locations.
Expedition Everest is produced by National Geographic Studios, with Katie Bauer Murdock as director and producer, Christine Weber and Vanessa Serrao as executive producers, and Katherine Chivers as associate producer.
The documentary is narrated by actor Tate Donovan (MacGyver, The Man in the High Castle).
I’m guessing they want to avoid a clash with the live AFL game on Seven in Mel/Ade, whereas in Perth it isn’t an issue due to the time difference?
There seems to be a change in Sydney’s schedule (according to online guide and EPG):
7.30pm: Super Rugby Pacific (NSW Waratahs v Moana Pasifika)
9.30pm: Super Rugby Pacific Post-Match
9.45pm: Clash of the Titans
The French Open that was to air on 9GO is now moved back to 9Gem. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix moves to 9GO at 7.30pm.
What a mess, should’ve just pulled HP weeks ago and made it a 9Go marathon, now weekly or daily changes and stuffing-up guides. None of these are obviously high rating, but it’s not good all the same. Deathly Hallows Part 2 will air at Christmas by the time they get around to it

Aussies now out of the French Open singles after Kokkinakis went down in a tense match late last night, however I’m guessing Nine are still contracted to broadcast? They’ll be disappointed, but Wimbledon around the corner, which always better anyway.
Of course they are contracted to broadcast it, imagine if every country that shows the French Open dropped it as soon as all the players from their country were out. Besides no one these days expects the Aussies to go far in grand slams now that Barty is retired, except for maybe Kyrgios at Wimbledon.
I think that statement is a bit harsh, like any era, tennis at least here has always had a ‘band wagon’-edge to it, in the sense that whenever an Aussie (high profile or not) gets on a roll, especially week 2, masses start tuning-in.
Nine really aren’t required to broadcast the full tournament - but they are required to pay for it. So they might as well show it as it will always have some interest no matter who is playing.
Sponsorship too, some only want to sponsor certain programs (such as sport or some events), Rolex to name one - a major global tennis Grand Slam partner and time keeper. So for the French, Wimbledon and US (unlike the cost for domestic rights for the Aus Open/summer tournaments - although pre-COVID was said to ‘broadly wash its face’), might almost pay its way. And of course the ‘reach’ figures across an event and the eyes that saw an ad or network promo.

Unusual Sunday schedule without any reality show. I suppose it extends the number of weeks PG is on air.
That’s a danger (given most 2023 results) for 8pm Sunday, if only 100-200k metro, will drag down their whole night. But that title choice they probably think it’ll do significantly higher than that, I’d guess they’re hoping 300k+, even though a repeat.
It’ll be interesting to see how this goes up against the AFL, both contest/and one conditions dependant (similarly Seven’s test vs Nine’s NRL this week). I feel Melbourne’s Ashes will do stronger.
Nine getting cold feet on Parental Guidance already?
I’d say more to do with 7NEWS Spotlight being competitive against 60 Minutes so it’s moving 60 to 7pm to counter 7NEWS spot light.
Except I think the cricket in on Seven that night. Maybe Nine’s waved the white flag for that night already.
Looks like a mistake here: Bohemian Rhapsody is over two hours long. Perhaps Australian Crime Story might get “bumped” and the Late News will air whenever the film finishes?
It’s a mistake - now corrected
