Nine Network - Programs and Schedules

An article from TV Blackbox on Nine dropping Ellen.

Listening back to the audio of when the news broke on radio station 3AW, entertainment reporter Jayden Forster said that Nine told him “They are very grateful for a tremendous run with the Ellen show, but won’t be airing it on Channel 9.”

TV expert Scott Ellis who was speaking to program host Dee Dee Dunleavy when Jayden called in, said that it’s probably not to do with ratings, but suggested it was more so a distribution deal in terms of rights and gave the example of the competition of streaming services, which sees some other programs have one season of a show on one platform and another season of that show available on a different platform.

Not sure what the other non-NRL cities had but in Adelaide we had the encore of The Hundred at 7.30 last night. Was there a last minute change?

Same thing happened in Melbourne

Nine also played an encore of The One Hundred after the NRL in Sydney and Brisbane.

That’s a shame. NRL plus Rugby Union could’ve been a winning combo for Channel 9.

Also, even though it’s a split schedule, as with the last couple of weeks Nine have dropped (or run out?) or a Space Invaders / Attenborough show for 60min at 7:30pm as has been all year - neither rated particularly strong though tbh and often Seven’s movies (on a m/c in two markets due to AFL) would rank, so not totally surprised.

I noticed Season 4 ep 1 of New Amsterdam is premiering on Stan next month not on Ch 9 anymore?

Why is 9 NEWS so early?

Where is the NRL Thursday Night Game?

The NRL finals are here - no more Thursday nights + a double header on Saturday means news is at 4.30pm

At least on Seven during AFL finals news is at 6pm.

Different sport but anyway…

I don’t know why we’re again talking about the double header on the Saturday during the first week of the NRL Finals.

Nine are obviously happy to run with this sort of thing as it’s been going on for about a decade now, if not longer.
