This is the episode I might watch.
Victim of copy and paste?
Fixed now. Notable that the 7.30 episodes are in a 1:10 timeslot with repeats at just 60 min.
Nine (in TAS at least) regularly have minimal breaks post 10.30pm. Lethal Weapon last week (or whichever week it aired late) for example went for 43 minutes including ads. So it wouldnāt surprise me if thereās just not many ads in it.
I think that may be because while commercial television stations can only show an average of 13 minutes of advertising per hour between 6:00pm and Midnight, they can show up to 15 minutes in two of those hours and up to 14 minutes in the other four hours. So Nine play more commercials earlier in the night and less late at night. And currently there is an extra minute of ads per hour due to the election campaigns.
Schedule Update - movie starts earlier
Saturday 4 May
08:10 pm Movie: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
11:00 pm Timeless Rpt
The movie will be reported in 2 parts in ratings.
The 8:10 to 8:30pm ish part will be PG and the remainder will be rated M, I would guess.
Lethal Weapon Season 3 is now on 9Now.
And once again, Iām vindicated, Iāve been strong on this.
Nineās decision to encore Lego Masters last night right after 6pm News (everyone couldāve predicted this) backfired yet again and affected the rest of the night.
FTA premiere of one of the recent hottest (and expensive) movie franchises - spinoff Rogue One bombed spectacularly (airing much of the night), even beaten* by Sevenās umpteenth repeat of a rival Disney movie!
Encores arguably have a purpose for late night fillers, get some extra exposure or for sponsors or whatever, but NOT core prime time after a fairly good lead-in, one of 10ās Saturday problems too.
Nine need to cut this shit out.
*The ratings I saw online didnāt include 7mate in Melbourne and Adelaide, but if they were included, it absolutely beat it, looking at that channels gigantic share (also crushed 10ās main channel - not good) and the average looking AFL figures in Perth.
It is an interesting point you make. How much extra money could they make from Saturdayās if they didnāt air encores? Is it really worth extra cost? 9 have been doing it for years. There is obviously a reason. If they werenāt making money from it, or there was more money to be elsewhere they wouldnāt have been doing it for so long.
I have just looked at the figures they arenāt as dire as you make out. The percentage is pretty normal for 9.
Glad that Nine only aired one episode of The Lego Show last night, instead of the 3 episodes. They used to air numerous episodes of The Voice on Saturday nights, and they bombed big time in the ratings.
But I would have aired The Lego Show after the movie last night, instead of at 7pm. Reality shows are good filler programs post 10pm on every night. lol.
Would be interesting to see Ch 9ās share between 7pm and 8:15pm, probably 3rd to Ch 7 and the ABC.
Does that really matter? Would the Extra few percent justify the cost?

Nine already repeats Lego Masters at lunchtime from Monday to Wednesday (I tape these encores and House Rules during primetime), so there is no need to do another encore on Saturday night.
And they encore it on 9Go next day leading into 7.30pm as well.
For you personally, perhaps
You may be proven correct in the context of a one-off night but Nine may have no issue writing off Saturday/using it as collateral damage in order to increase Lego Mastersā audience on bigger primetime nights (Sun-Tue).
Itās likely a cost saving measure. Seven is going to win the night anyway with AFL so why waste money on movie licensing costs which will provide minimal additional viewers? Itās basically a long promo to hook in new viewers for the Sunday episode.
And one could also argue 7 are doing the same thing on a Thursday. Although Talent isnāt an encore 7 know it isnāt going to rate. But they have enough confidence in their other programs to warrant a wasted timeslot.
