Why is Osher there?
I was wondering the same thing. He wasnât announced for anything.
Will they do a standard The Bachelor after The Golden Bachelor?
He has a podcast that is joining Nine next year.
Also missing from media releases but verbally mentioned for Stan in 2025
3rd season of Love Triangle
2nd season of Scrublands
Christmas movie this year
Wow, Iâm actually gob smacked. I didnât expect much but this is beyond pitiful.
Zero new Australian dramas. FUCK OFF 9. No some reheated NZ crap filmed in NZ utilizing a largely NZ cast is not Australian.
Golden Bachelor. Yes I know they want to appeal to their demographics, old boomers that canât change the channel, but what a mind numbing programming choice. The brand has had its day, and that was with hot young people. Exactly how well did My Mum, Your Dad work out for you 9. It didnât.
No really big investments or commitments of shows and relying on the old tired formats. The current ratings arenât going to hold up forever and sooner rather than later the ratings will drop. Itâs constantly the same old, same old. Sport, news & reality. That isnât growing a brand, thatâs circling the drain.
For the first time I actually believe FTA is going to die. It wonât be due to lack of audience though, it will due to stubborn execs not spending money where they could and grow the future business and instead wasting millions on crap and overpriced sport.
Iâd reckon they need to bring the masked singer into the mix.
Extremely disappointing upfronts - but in saying that, they have a stable line up throughout the year.
They probably needed to make the least changes from a stability perspective, but also have the most stale line-up, despite still having big hits like MAFS, Block etc.
Neither of the big shows announced seem like big swings theyâve taken in the past, where is the risk?
Some reactions from advertising and media agencies
Yeah thatâs why I was expecting The Masked Singer. 7 Network brought rights to The Voice after being on Channel Nine. Why canât Nine brought rights to Masked Singer.
Very expensive is what I have been told by the networks
Notably, Blood On The Tracks: The Platform Killer which was announced at Nineâs Upfronts in 2023 due this year, was later announced as being delayed to 2025 and has now been scrapped due to financing issues.
A 9 Network Spokesperson confirming to TV Blackbox:
âItâs with regret that Blood On The Tracks: The Platform Killer wonât go ahead due to financingâ.
The Network further confirmed that staple travel series Getaway, an omission at yesterdayâs Upfront event, will return in 2025.
Further, a series first announced at their Upfronts in 2022, Australiaâs Most Identical, will still come into the schedule at some point.
When pressed on other series not included in the Upfront announcements, including The Summit, Under Investigation with Liz Hayes, Do You Want to Live Forever?, Food Stars and Jeopardy! Australia, a Spokesperson said:
âWe have a number of shows part of our programming slate that currently arenât scheduled in 2025â.
The ratings werenât that great considering the amount of money it would have cost to produce.
Iâm glad Nine didnât pick up another networks slops. The constant relying on picking up other networks used shows has created the worst stale environment imaginable. Often times a network change wasnât even warranted given the average to poor ratings some shows were getting. It must be a special kind of ego to think a show is suddenly going to perform brilliantly just because of a channel shift or a year off-screen.
So disheartening. No money for something high brow but more than enough money to put into over paid presenters and mindless junk like Australiaâs Most Identical.
I do feel that if the golden bachelor works for 9, they may try a shorter season of the bachelor for 2026?
Some shows have worked like The Voice going from 9 to 7. Farmer wants a Wife too.
Define âworkedâ. The Voice has gone through numerous format tweaks and spin-offs during its run on Seven, leaving it barely watchable or recognizable. As for Farmer Wants a Wife, calling it a âsuccessâ for Seven might be a stretch, given similar issues.
Formats like The Masked Singer and The Traitors will only succeed if a network is willing to invest the necessary time and effort, focusing on making the shows resonate with audiences rather than simply serving network interests.
Another addition to Nineâs 2025 Line Up
