Nine (NBN)

probably yesterday hence the Surfest surfboard… NBN often run the dotless GO and GEM IDs, so they probably haven’t got the new watermarks in their system for local insertion.

Last night but taken from a September 2015 program which is the latest online. http://www.sothere.tv/so-there-latest-episode/episode-8

I love the shoehorning in of “on NBN” in this promo:

NBN getting in a bit early with its 9NBN watermark :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Looks like they’ll use Nine’s watermark and add its own tiny watermark to it. It’s tricky to see but it’s a greyish watermark.

Well spotted.

Stayed on screen for about three minutes. Gone now.

So for the Today Show they’ll use the orange 9HD with a little grey NBN watermark underneath? What about other programming?

More than likely they are testing their transparent watermark for use during regular programming. I’d say their Today watermark will be solid orange.

So with that in mind from tomorrow what we’ll see is the solid orange 9HD with solid orange little NBN underneath the HD during the Today Show, and during regular programs we’ll see a transparent 9HD with transparent little NBN underneath. Am I correct in thinking the only difference between channel 8 and channel 80 will be the HD part of the watermark?

If the normal channel 8 channel users that little watermark with the normal size nine it’s gonna look weird.

It will be just like 9 Gold Coast’s watermark.

So we should expect something like this?

As far as I’m aware, Nine Gold Coast now has the “HD” addition to their watermark just like the metro markets as of a couple of weeks ago!

Also, I’d personally prefer to see the “NBN” text under the “9” in Nine’s logo rather than squished under the “HD” addition!

According to the promo it will be squished as per my mock. If it were to be under it would conflict with Nine’s live and promo graphics.

Anyway I think the real intention is to just remove the NBN when the transition to “Nine Regional” is complete.

Another question is that is it going to be referred to in promos as “9NBN” or just Nine?

NBN have had a dog of a time broadcasting the Oscars. All in a span of 15 mins.

My assumption would be that they’d just run with their normal Nine adverts that are used in the metros with the NBN logo added underneath in the same fashion as the pictures above.

Would save them from needing to do extra voiceovers, as all they’d need to do would be to add in the little “NBN” underneath.

I don’t live in an NBN area, but would I be correct in saying that this transition and launch of 9HD is scheduled for tomorrow?

Some promos already don’t have the “on NBN”:

Correct. There’s no official confirmation of 9NBN but 9HDNBN is meant to begin tomorrow, it is assumed that they will conincide.
