Nine Cricket Coverage

If his LinkedIn profile is accurate, he is the boss of the sports reports on Nine News Sydney. I don’t think he would feel embarrassed about his job, which is what you seem to be implying.

Love to “dwindle” (?) around the newsroom by being sent to the Cricket World Cup in the UK.

It’s quite clear you have no idea how newsrooms work.

Oh please. The cricket is on Fox, if they don’t have fox sports I doubt they watch much sport anyway.

And if they can’t figure out how to program GEM on a digital TV, well it’s their loss.

As a former PM once said “shit happens”

Will be interesting to see how much of Thursday’s game is on the main channel.

Particularly with Origin the night before, and the 1st semi the night before that.

In Perth, the schedule currently has the second semi starting on 9Gem at 5pm before moving to main channel at 7.30pm.
Nine Perth will have Hot Seat, Nine News and ACA as scheduled from 5pm to 7.30pm, but with Australia playing, Nine News may finish early at 6.30pm with ACA omitted altogether.

Pre-match on Gem, then gameplay begins at 7.30pm on the main channel.

Okay so that came across as harah, I’m sorry, I won’t try and be facetious again.

What I was meaning it Rob deserves a big presenting role, like he’s gone backwards from 10. While some might say he should just be happy to be at Nine after (redundancy?) from 10, he was already at 10 for 12+ years. Seasoned now.

Sure, but maybe he prefers being more hands-on rather than reading an autocue a few nights a week?

Heard Mel Jones calling the Aus v eng women’s ODI match in Canterbury.
First with CWC19 on Star sports, then WODI on sky Sports

Wouldn’t that be the same feed that 9Gem gets?

Saw Mark Taylor and Ian Healy still up at 6am Sunday morning at the end of the Australia v South Africa ODI match and now they’re doing the Innings Break for the Women’s Ashes. Amazing effort.

Some of the commentators at the Cricket World Cup are also working for Sky Sports UK for its coverage of women’s and men’s Ashes, like Mel Jones, Isa Guha, Mike Atherton and Nasser Hussain.

CRICKET WORLD CUP FINALS

ALL FINALS LIVE ON NINE, 9GEM & 9NOW

Four teams remain in the race to be number one when the ICC One Day International World Cup Finals begin tomorrow night LIVE and in HD at 7.00pm AEST on 9GEM, simulcast on Nine at 9:15pm AEST following Australian Ninja Warrior , and on 9Now .

Australia, England, India and New Zealand will clash over three games to determine the ultimate victor for cricket’s greatest prize. India and New Zealand do battle tomorrow night at 7.00pm AEST in the first semi-final, before Australia and England clash in a not-to-be-missed match on Thursday night at 7.00pm AEST – a preview of the much anticipated Ashes series in August.

Boasting one of the deepest batting lineups in recent memory, with the likes of Joe Root, Jason Roy, Johnny Bairstow and Jos Buttler in the side, England are one of the most imposing challenges in ODI cricket today.

The winners of these two matches will then meet in the final at the hallowed turf of Lord’s this Sunday night , July 14 at 7pm AEST to determine the 2019 champions.

Australia go into the finals as the reigning champions from 2015, as well as the most successful team in ICC World Cup history, having held the trophy aloft five times previously. They are in great form off the back of brilliant batting by captain Aaron Finch and the returning David Warner , while Mitchell Starc has proved simply devastating with the ball in hand.

Commentary will be provided by the biggest names in the world of cricket, with coverage hosted by Rebecca Maddern, James Bracey, former Australian captain Mark Taylor and wicket-keeping great Ian Healy .

Big risk to simulcast when there’s a high chance of rain delays in Tuesday’s game in Manchester

I don’t understand the need to simulcast. For metro viewers both channels are available in HD. If there is some advantage to running the cricket on the main channel, why not run the usual programming on 9Gem?

I would have thought that the AUS v ENG game would be more likely to be simulcast simply because it’s the local team.

Maybe Nine is giving Rebecca Maddern some rest or to avoid having her appearing on two channels at the same time?
