Yep, back on at 4pm and Hazlewood took an early wicket :raised_hands:

Edit

No news at 6pm in Melbourne, probably due to todayā€™s changed session times, Nine made an executive decision for the viewers.

Kind of surprised that Nine would cancel the news in Melbourne.

SCA Nine cut to Local News almost straight away while celebrations are continuing, coverage continuing on 9Gem. Nothing on screen before the channel change though.

The news is on right now in Melbourne. Not cancelled at all.

Aldo continued on 9 until the last wicket before crossing to news. About 6:56

Okay, to be fair, my edit was as at least 6:05pm (news had not started), I had a dinner to go to right then.

Many wouldā€™ve flicked to Seven News at 6pm as a result.

Herald Sun reporting twitter outrage again!

Admittedly, a mention to switch to Gem wouldnā€™t have hurt considering earlier we were told, 9 was staying with the cricket.

BOXING DAY TEST

9.30am AEDT 26 - 30 December

With Australia regaining The Ashes, the action now shifts to the Boxing Day Test that starts on Boxing Day on Nine as they close in on a 5-0 series whitewash.

Up to 100,000 fans a day are expected to flock to the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the Test match that has become the biggest spectacle on the cricketing calendar in Australia.

For the first time this summer, Bill Lawry joins Nineā€™s broadcast team for the Boxing Day Test ā€“ and the Fifth Test at the SCG ā€“ in his 40th year of commentary. Lawry will be calling the first ball of the first innings as millions of viewers tune in around the nation.

Australian captain Steve Smith enters the contest in unstoppable fashion as the best batsman in the world after a double century in Perth, as many compare his current form to the great Don Bradman.

The Australian bowling attack, including Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon, will look to continue their red-hot run following the first three Tests where they bullied Englandā€™s top order.

England will be desperate to bounce back by finding more resolve to back up standout performers James Anderson, Dawid Malan and James Vince, who have impressed with the ball and bat respectively so far in the series. Captain Joe Root and out-of-form opener Alastair Cook both need to lead the way with big scores to give England a chance.

I saw him through the glass on one of the Balcony levels in the MCC, inside what looked like a private function.

Doubt heā€™ll come out, but often youā€™ll see Eddie McGuire and Co come out in the roped off seating sections, sat near him during the footy this year.

The broadcast centre and associated boxes is located on the same level Iā€™m pretty sure, walk past it all the time.

He only made a brief stop in for maybe 15 minutes Iā€™d guess.

PS. Thinking about flying over to next yearā€™s BD test v India. Can I have your tickets? Cheers.

My Melbourne Cricket Club membership is non-transferrable Iā€™m pretty sure, plus the photo ID might be an issue.

But you could try
