Both being ICC top-tier global partners though, so I suspect @bacco007 is correct in saying the ICC were putting ads from such in their coverage, yes.
Booking. com has an Australian branch but is not an Indian company though (it is based in Amsterdam). And MRF tyres are sold in many countries around the world including Australia.
Yep, theyâll be must-carries. Similar to Champions League coverage of football - where you have to/used to have to take the Heineken ad straight after the titles going to break (from memory, I may be slightly off). Has been a chips company too.
Lays or local equivalent (Smiths, Walkers, etc.)
What are the chances of both Fox and Nine/Stan claiming the rights to this upcoming Australian tour of Sri Lanka?
Both? Next to none.
Sri Lanka tour would be a good fit for Stan. Not sure why they donât seem to show any interest in cricket. They seem to love Rugby for some reason.
One off cricket tours are not going to move the subscription needle for a streamer
It would be better than adding another Rugby comp or Tennis tournament.
Except for the fact that they have no other cricket to leverage. Hardly anyone is going to subscribe for a single overseas test series against average competition. More rugby or tennis builds the catalogue to be more enticing.
Stan would have already maxed out Rugby and Tennis subscribers.
They need to add more sports if they want more. Itâs hardly a bidding war this late in the process so shouldnât blow the budget.
Just on this. Why do Foxtel and the other network hate these Package deals that the cricket boards from around the world always try to sell them? Whatâs so bad about them?
But again, they have no other cricket. The goal of streaming services is to attract regular subscribers. It could cost them nothing to show, but there is no value benefit to potential cricket subscribers.
Streamers are desperate to stop churn, itâs killing them. This would simply invite it.
They are often highly expensive in return for questionable value for broadcasters and can carry onerous terms or restrictions around sponsorship, advertising must-carries and other things.
I thought Amazon Prime had snapped up all the tours of the Australian team across the world
You thought wrong, unfortunately.
I looked into it after I wrote it and found it wasnt. I did hear that Amazon Prime had secured the rights to a number of tournaments around the world. I have since looked into it further and seen it was Australian rights for all ICC events
Amazon swoops in to snare ICC broadcast rights | cricket.com.au
Yep
With Seven securing the exclusive Australia TV Rights to Australiaâs Tour of Sri Lanka, here is hoping Fox and Nine will both secure TV Rights for the Tour of West Indies this June/July, the Tour of South Africa during September/October of 2026 and finally, the Tour of India during January/February of 2027. Nine will still Exclusively Show the Tour of England during 2027.
Why are you hoping for both?
