That’s right. Old ACA and Nine News Local set.
With Cricket in the LA Olympics in 2028, Nine will be airing cricket at the Olympics in 2028 and 2032 as part of their deal with the IOC
That set looks gross.
It looks like 2 different sets plonked together. The background (brown, blue, matt finish) and the desk (black, grey, glossy) just don’t look right together, especially with that over the top pink on display.
Seems like Nine will retain the rights to the Ashes in England as 7 are thick enough to expect the ECB to hand over the contract cheaply - https://www.afr.com/companies/sport/england-wants-50m-for-next-two-ashes-series-20231020-p5edtj
Nine Entertainment and streaming and pay-TV company Foxtel are seeking to retain the broadcast rights, which are held by the England and Wales Cricket Board. People close to the deal, who spoke anonymously because the talks are confidential, said Seven told the ECB late last week it could not afford to stump up the cash.
I read here English cricket executives attended AFL and NRL grand finals in battle for Ashes rights
that 9 paid around $23 million per series for the 2019 & 2023 series. And with them being popular, it makes sense for ECB to ask for $50 million (25 per series). And 9 probably would pay the slight increase, while 7 has to cough up new funds and not an increase.
But surely 7 has to try and get the ashes since they claim to be the ‘home of FTA cricket’
As mentioned in the Sports broadcasting thread, the UK Ashes remain on Nine until 2031 with Nine still broadcasting cricket.
With cricket featuring at the 2028 and 2032 Olympics, that’s at least four more years of live cricket on Nine.
No Australian ODI series vs England in September next year on Nine. Will be Foxtel exclusive.
Australia’s fight to win the ICC Cricket World Cup goes up a notch when they take on South Africa in a do-or-die semi-final, live and free from India on Channel 9HD and 9Now tomorrow night at 7.00pm.

Pat Cummins will lead Australia into battle in the second semi-final on Nine’s Wide World of Sports from Eden Gardens in Kolkata, with a place in the final on the line.
Australia will go on the attack with batsmen Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Mitchell Marsh and David Warner, and a bowling attack featuring Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and spinner Adam Zampa, the leading wicket-taker in the tournament.
Nine’s commentary is hosted by Roz Kelly, with expert comments from former Australian captain Mark Taylor.
Mark Taylor said: “Australia versus South Africa sees two very similar teams going head to head for a spot in the World Cup final.
“Warner, Marsh, Maxwell and co, taking on Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markham and Heinrich Klaasen, sees explosive batting up against quality fast bowling from Pat Cummins, Kagiso Ramada, Mitchel Starc, Lungi Ngidi, Josh Hazlewood and Marco Jansen – a mouthwatering prospect.
“South Africa were too good for Australia in the group stage but the Aussies have lifted since those early encounters.
“Zampa’s 22 wickets and Maxwell’s double hundred have been two of the highlights for Australia, but don’t rule out the South Africans who will be itching to make their first World Cup final. Eden Gardens will be packed for what will be an epic encounter.”
All three finals games are available live and free in prime time on Channel 9HD. 9Now will stream live and free coverage and mini matches of every game, providing everything you need to stay up to date.
*If bad weather causes the reserve day to be activated on Friday, Australia v South Africa will be shown live and free on Channel 9 at 7.00pm – Friday, November 17.
Bit misleading given tonight’s match is being shown on 9Gem with the ARIAs on the main channel.
Well that’s an “F-up” on 7’s part. They can’t claim to be the home of cricket surely.
Let’s hope by not bidding for all these big sports events that they’re actually going to invest it in some new programming, and doing them properly and not half-hearted versions.
The 9now coverage keeps freezing did it in last night’s game as well I’d this happening to anyone.
Nine will be happy with the result of the second semi final with Australia going through to the Sunday final.
The main onscreen graphics at the bottom of the screen tonight are way too small. I know I’m getting older and I’m watching on a smaller screen than usual at my fathers place, but I’m struggling to read the smaller print.
The ICC jamming their own ads into the coverage?
The highlights via 9Now were put together better than the Kayo mini.
9Now had 30mins no adverts besides the start. Longer look at the Aussie batting inns
While KayoMini only 18mins.
Well done to both networks, was covered really well with access to their apps and for Nine on FTA to go with live coverage via the 9Now app.
Yes multiple Indian based ads were seen, two examples shown in the caps.
