Nine Cricket Coverage

Here is some nostalgia for tonight’s coverage: Nick McArdle (7 Sport presenter between Mid-1990s and 2006) is presenting tonight’s coverage on 9 for this Women’s ODI Match.

The Fifth Test could see the Olympic Rings on Nine as well as this weekend to mark 9 years to go until Brisbane 2032 and one year before Paris

The graphics this Ashes are obviously being written by non-cricket people. I’m seeing things referred to in either their formal name (the above would typically be referred to as “Drinks - 1st Innings” or just “Drinks”, “Rain has delayed play” would be “Rain delay”, “Play to start 23:15 AEST” would be “First Ball 23:15 AEST”, and often a plural is added to words such as “win” or “trail” when I wouldn’t think to use it normally) or how you would describe it to someone who doesn’t know what you’re talking about. Maybe that’s what they’re trying to do?

The perfect Saturday night set up doesn’t exi-. 😳

Heals knows what’s up while we wait for the rain to clear in Manchester. 😎

Cricket coverage abandoned for the movie Into The Storm.

Honestly they should do this for all coverage that’s affected/delayed by 3 hours, and if there’s an update insert it in as a super.

How long ago did they do that? There apparently doing an inspection now (2pm local time) I’m not to sure what the chances are that they might get out there.

It was just before 10pm in Sydney/Brisbane

Edit: the movie ran to the end and then the cricket started 5 minutes later.

Not a lot of chance of play at the moment - Australia happy by not Nine.

A bit odd, given AFAIK they didn’t do that the previous washout, the random title choice, time of night and seeing as play resumed later into the night - probably only damaged any momentum and ratings especially for Western Australia (couple of hours behind) and anyone else (as it’s not a working night and passionate fans doing an all nighter).

I’d think not going off last night’s ratings/shares

Is it just me, or is the set lighting a bit different tonight? Looks better actually.

Does to me too, doesn’t look as washed out.

THE ASHES: FIFTH TEST

EXCLUSIVE ON NINE

FROM 7.30PM THURSDAY, JULY 27

STREAM ON 9NOW EXCLUSIVE, LIVE AND FREE

The Urn has been retained but the job is not done, as Australia fight to keep England from salvaging a drawn series when the fifth and final Ashes test is exclusive, live and free, from 7.30pm AEST Thursday on the 9Network and 9Now.

Aiming for a series win for the first time in England since 2001, Australia will look to silence their opposition and their fan base at The Oval in London.

Marnus Labuschagne , who scored a century before rain ended the fourth test, will be looking for big-run support from openers Usman Khawaja and David Warner to put Australia on the path to their third victory of the Ashes series.

Captain Pat Cummins will again lead a bowling attack trying to squash England’s flamboyant and carefree “Bazball” batting style that triumphed in the third test.

Nine’s commentary team is hosted by Roz Kelly, with expert comments from former Australian captain Mark Taylor, Ashes winner Ian Healy and former international Callum Ferguson. Taylor will be joined on the ground by Louise Ransome, with 9News reporter Sam Djodan filing from London.

Finally some decent scheduling. Only had to wait four Ashes series and even then only the 5th and final Test.

Is that the Sunday Footy Show set being used tonight?
