Nine Cricket Coverage

…which is what they’ll do. Also lifts their multichannel shares for the year.

That’s kind of what I was trying to point out :+1:

Interesting choice to use James Brayshaw (most likely from their old tapes) prominently on their promo for the Ashes, considering he’s been a significant/contracted personality who defected to arch-rival Seven (albeit reportedly quit Nine over salary) more than 5 years ago now and who are also airing another cricket event preceding it starting next week. Surely there were other good calls with current star players from their final summer or two or another broadcaster more recently? It’s not a major issue, just thought it a bit strange.

Interesting they were using Slater in their first one too…

Doubt it makes a difference to normal viewers.

The schedule for the first couple of days of The Ashes First Test have been released.

On the Friday the cricket will largely be on the main channel in AFL states starting at 7:30pm AEST with first ball at 8:00 pm. Sydney and Brisbane will get 9Gem coverage.

On Saturday, coverage switches to main channel all markets. Perth unknown but assume news will bump the cricket to 9Gem in WA.

The Saturday broadcast will also depend on the scheduling of Super Rugby Pacific finals.

At least in QLD/NSW/ACT.

The Super Rugby Semi Final is currently scheduled for 9Gem.

Is it likely to feature an Aussie team?

Yeh - but rugby compared to The Ashes? The cricket should get main channel no matter who is playing Rugby surely.

Oh agree but was just thinking for three hours they might have. Unlikely an Aussie team will make it, and if they do it’s likely to be the Brumbies so the cricket will be on main channel.

Interesting to see Callum Ferguson who will be part of 9’s Ashes coverage next week promoting 7’s test championship coverage.

I guess he is part of the 7cricket (as his Twitter bio says) so maybe that’s probably the reason

Yep, he’s Seven normally.

He was with Nine for the T/20 world champion in Australia last summer.

He is a freelance commentator and Blewy on TripleM Adelaide said it was him that got him over to seven for BBL cricket.

I thought he was freelance that’s why I was surprised that he was promoting 7’s coverage when he’s not part of it but then saw that his Twitter bio had 7cricket so it makes sense.

From Sunday the Ashes coverage moves to 9Gem for the remained of the match.

Nine’s coverage of Women’s Ashes test from Trent Bridge will begin on 9GO! in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth on Thursday, June 22, due to 9Gem’s telecast of second Women’s State of Origin clash from Townsville. Once SOO finishes at 10pm AEST, the cricket will move from 9GO! to 9Gem.

On Friday, June 23, the first session of Women’s Ashes test will be shown on 9GO! in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. When the NRL finishes on 9Gem at 10.40pm AEST, the cricket moves from 9GO! to 9Gem.

I think it’s very rare to see a Cricket game being shown on 9Go in the west. Back 4 years ago, Perth viewers get the first two hours of Ashes Test on 9GEM (with NRL on 9GO) before moving to Nine. But this year, they swithced over. I don’t get it why they switched two codes over?
