Nine Cricket Coverage

Ten have exited from sport completely. ViacomCBS have no interest in expanding sport in the Australian market. Why would they want to jump back in now?

Your summary left out a crucial detail which is distorting the discussion occurring about it here - the informal talks between CA & Nine reportedly happened because CA thought Seven would default on making their installment payments (which would hence allow CA to terminate the agreement). The talks ended when it became clear they wouldn’t.

This wasn’t a case of CA unilaterally seeking to terminate the agreement - that would give rise (unless they approve otherwise) to Seven likely being able to successfully sue for breach of contract

ViacomCBS has little interest in Australian sport but is willing to pay big bucks to retain NFL and PGA golf rights in the US.

Yes, but Viacom manages 10 and 5, whereas CBS manages CBS.

Wouldn’t it be nice that in 2024/25 that 9 regains Mens ODIs and Mens T20Is Rights with 7 keeping Mens Test Matches, Womens Internationals and sharing the BBL with 9. Or maybe Stan Sports will get involed too.

No. This will not happen.

If it is still around, then I’d think it will be 9 and Stan. See Cricket thread. We won’t see a mixed FTA partnership, other than potentially Internationals and Domestic.

How about this (Very similar to current one):

Nine - Most WBBL Matches and 43 BBL Matches, Men’s Test Matches and Women’s Internationals

Stan Sports - All 60-61 BBL Matches (With 16-17 Exclusive), Men’s Test Matches, Men’s ODIs (Exclusive), Men’s T20Is (Exclusive) and Women’s Internationals.

Yeah, looks about right. The deal now is fine (hear me out). The problem is Foxtel. If it was 7 and Kayo, it would work. You watch the game/s on 7 on tv, and when you go out you stream it on Kayo. (These would be the same feed, just no ads on Kayo). This would work for 9/Stan.

With all broadcast domestic games (WBBL, WNCL final, Sheffield Shield, Marsh Cup, Premier T20 Championships, etc.) available on SS. Would also be good if all games could be on here from all levels, similar to the proposed FFA TV.

Put them on 9Gem or 9Go!

Yeah, not gonna happen, bar maybe finals.

Nine aired the ODDC on Gem when they had the rights

Yes, that was before live streaming was really a thing.

They were also paid by CA to show them and requested by nine to only have them all played in October.

Do we know if Nine are showing the T20 World Cup and next years Women’s World Cup or is it only exclusive to Fox?

Currently, Fox is the only broadcaster.

While waiting for today’s play to begin, I watched the Kayo Mini of the Fifth Ashes Test in 2018. This was Nine’s last home Test broadcast. I’ve collated a series of screenshots of this broadcast, showing off the various different elements of the Pink Test-themed graphics, with some of their Australian and English variants, for the internet archives.

Nine just ran a promo for their sports coverage in 2022 during the AO coverage, and it appears they will be broadcasting the T20 World Cup.

So they broadcast 2022 T20WC but refuse to broadcast 2021 T20WC??? Hmmm…
