Newshub Nation (NewshubNationNZ)

Alright, I wondered who presented the news, Sport and weather on the Good Friday Edition of Newshub Live at 6PM Tonight.
Wow what a blast from the past, can’t believe it’s been that long. I do wonder what it would of been like had it survived and remained on air. I liked Oliver and Carly’s dynamic as hosts but that wasnt enough to topple Paul Henry on Breakfast. There probably isn’t any room for a show like Sunrise unless Prime enters the breakfast market but that’s unlikely.
Newshub will air a special at 8am on Saturday morning on Three regarding Prince Philip’s death.
Just recently, I was introduced to all the team from Newshub and watched its 4.30pm news bulletin going live to air from the studio control room at Flower Street. That’s my big highlight when it comes to great television.
I would like to thank the Newshub team for having me around, including Dan Lake (or Dan News as he’s also known) who’s a good friend of mine.
Dedicated to @theGradyConnell.
It’s nice to see how the studios look without the graphics. You don’t get to really see the sets except during the intro (Newshub) or before and after breaks (AM Show).
The am show studio looks bigger then it appears on tv
@TVGeekNZ Here’s a map of Level 1 at Flower Street.
Level 1 is in the basement of the building, which itself is dug into the hillside, but has vehicle access directly off Korari Street.
There are, in fact, two studios: one for Newshub (i.e. the main studio) and one for The AM Show. The most important of the studios, in terms of operational use and the required quality of environment and performance, is the main studio (below).
Level 1 is a double height area incorporating the main studio which provides the necessary stud height to accommodate the lighting grid requirements for the main studio. The main studio itself is large enough in area (just) to accommodate the Newshub set which are moveable to enable flexible use of the studio. Newshub has been around for five years and its television bulletins are produced in this studio, as does Newshub Nation, The Hui and CRC Motorsport.
The secondary studio (below), used by The AM Show, is much smaller than the main studio, according to the map (see above).
Both studios are connected to the studio control room with an audio suite (below).
The studio control room receives server based clips, studio feeds and external contribution feeds, compiles them into a single programme stream, overlays graphical elements and delivers this to presentation on Level 4 for insertion into pre-scheduled programming, including commercial breaks. Due to the fluid nature of the news bulletins, these interstitial events change in both timing and duration therefore communications between the news production area (on Level 1) and presentation (on Level 4) is key.
Has the AM studio always been a studio space or was it created when Paul Henry started?
It may have been the C4 studio.
@Reece The secondary studio played host to “Paul Henry” (named after one of New Zealand’s most controversial broadcasters) as a multi-platform breakfast programme and, more recently, The AM Show. In fact, Paul Henry commenced in April 2015 and ran for two years. The AM Show took over in 2017 with Duncan Garner fronting the programme.
The C4 studio (aka ‘New Zealand’s own Broom Cupboard’) was actually housed in Level 4 at Flower Street. There was a presentation suite linked to that studio, and the C4 studio itself was dedicated to its music shows. Since C4 became known as FOUR in 2011, that studio played host to Drew & Shannon Live (2011), FOUR Live (2012 to the first half of 2014) and SMASH! (the second half of 2014). Nowadays, Prime News has been produced in the former C4 studio since 2015.
Where is The Project NZ produced from?
@BJT2 The old YESSHOP studio at 71 Boston Road, Grafton - just a few minutes’ drive from Flower Street (traffic dependent).
Thank you
Could do with any update tbh. It’s a bit much.
Define “a bit much”?
Newshub has coverage of Prince Philip’s funereal
Also Guest host on Newshub Nation

(17-18/4/2021) With Tom McRae presenting during the week, Mitch McCann is filling in on Newshub Live at 6pm this Saturday with Eru Paranihi on weather. Michael Morrah presented with Melissa on Sunday.
Three just taking what I assume is the world/official feed of the funeral. Identical to TVNZ. No local introduction.
Interestingly, Melissa Chan-Green just introduced this morning’s repeated coverage…
