There are a few New Zealanders who currently work at Al Jazeera, the 24 hour international news channel (live from Doha and London with several bureaux worldwide), and I hope that some Kiwi journalists are giving Al Jazeera a go - Tom McRae, for instance, according to @medianz.
@medianz There are two studios that Al Jazeera is broadcasting from: Doha and London. But the question is, which one?
In this post it says that he will be based in Doha
Interesting to find out his wife is Rachel Jackson-Lees, breakfast radio newsreader across some of NZME’s stations.
There has been jokes made in the past that AJ is the Newshub Doha office.
There goes Discovery’s best shot at making AM watchable again.
Was nice to see Rebecca co host alongside Oriini for Newshub Nation.
Also glad that Janika filled in on Newshub @ 8pm on Eden Friday, always love seeing her, shes definitely on the up now being a regular fill in even more for newshub, hope to see her fill in on the newshour soon enough
Rebecca Wright could be the one to get The Nation back to something worth watching … hasn’t been the same since Lisa Owen left
I tend to agree, as much as I love Simon hes better suited to long form stories and would be better suited if Three would launch Newshub Investigates as a series rather than specials
A loss for Three / Discovery but a good move for Tom McRae… And probably still leaves the door open for a return as weeknight anchor in a few years time. AJ have lost a lot of anchors recently so not surprising they are hiring.
(30/4-1/5/2022) Tom presented Newshub Live at 6pm with Oriini Kaipara on Saturday and Samantha Hayes on Sunday.
Noticed this morning William Waiirua back on AM after having covid but just as a roving reporter. Bernie still doing weather. Much better.
Does TVNZ’s Breakfast suffer from not having Matty as a roving weather presenter now that he is a third co-host?
No, so often one of the cohost go to a place and do the show from there
Oriini Kaipara (working both ends of the day) and Mitch McCann anchoring…
Yay a big welcome back to Alex, its a shame shes not on the weekdays permanently, she is a fantastic weather presenter and a brilliant newsreader at that, pity shes not blonde, she would have been a shoe in, but three and tvnz love having a blonde
I watched the Parliament TV coverage instead of TVNZ or Newshub, but I question why they have an afternoon special with panelists based in Auckland who evidently have not been in the lock up and have only had a few minutes at best to look at the budget.
