The TV3 station ID featuring the ‘it’s on Ten’ sting for those playing at home.
I didn’t get it, either. Both seem like fairly standard templated news intros?
The nine-note motif is almost exactly the same. Gosh, don’t either of you have ears?
Not at all. But I do like both of them.
TV3 did have a local version of that imaging promo, espousing “the look of '93”, albeit with different instruments - interesting (though unsurprising) to see they also used the odd sting more readily associated with their across-the-ditch companions
ProSieben were using that a bit earlier than the turn of the century though, roughly around the time when TV One made their modern signature a more primary part of the One Network News theme… I can see where you’re coming from but it seems pretty much coincidence to me
Yeah, I agree - I don’t think it was anything other than coincidence. Still, they sound remarkably similar. IMO anyway.
And no look at PBS’s classic news/current affair music is complete without the Frontline theme…
…as heard in the opening sequence:
…and the clean extended theme:
Presumably that would’ve been a public holiday special given the types of things in the credits - certainly an unusually long version of it, which makes it even more of a treat.
Still kinda thought the 2000s version was a little inferior to this, and then of course WPBT handed it off, and by the time CNBC bought it it was already starting to lose a bit of relevance.
And of course, plenty of people getting confused with long-time anchor Paul Kangas’ double entendre of a farewell each night, wishing people “the best of good buys”…
Watch from the 29:20 min mark if you want almost 40 seconds of the ABC theme of the 90s and early 00s…
Didn’t know where to put this, but:
